Ceramics

February 2, 2010 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

Sharing some of the gorgeous coloured ceramics my eyes have been blessed with recently! I spotted these handpainted Turkish bowls at the Orange Grove Organic Markets.

Edit 17/02: I picked up a card from the stall-owner last Saturday. If you’re interested in these bowls, you can contact Metin on tel. 0413 638 591 or email: aydinmetin@yahoo.com. He’s at the markets on the first and second Saturdays of every month.

And here are the plates and tile that graced our table at Kazbah on Darling, a Middle Eastern and North African restaurant in Balmain.  The food was pretty good too!

They’re gorgeous! They remind me of the ceramics that they have at Kazbah in Balmain (which I’ve always coveted). Thanks for letting us know where to buy them! :)

Lorraine, the last three photos were taken at Kazbah in Balmain! :) They told us they used to sell their ceramics, but alas, no longer. The turkish bowls at Orange Grove Markets were very reasonably priced – $12 – $15 for the small ones..

They are stunning aren’t they? Sigh…I guess if a trip to Turkey is out of the question then Orange Grove markets it will have to be….

Ring me and I’ll meet you there! :)

What a visual feast! I wonder if they have anything like that around these parts….

I’m sure they do, Nancy! Nice to hear from you… :)

They are gorgeous. So colourful and such pretty motifs. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for dropping by, foodwink! I bought two little red bowls – they’re hard to use, because I just want to look at them! :)

These are all lovely, but with my rather garish taste, I love those colourful Turkish bowls. Sounds as though I’m not the only one though. I’d probably have gone for the red ones too.

Choclette, it was soooo hard to choose! I was trying to find two the same, but that was nearly impossible too!

Breath-taking, colourful….one to add to the list when I come to Oz………..

At the moment, I am completely taken in with Middle Eastern Cuisine and decorations….hmmmmmm. Sigh. With love.

I’ll be looking for these when I go the Turkish market in the Hague….though if I’d ever seen anything similar to that, I would have a stack by now. Lovely….sigh…again!

Ozoz, I’m with you – adore the Middle Eastern cuisines, all the spices, unusual flavours (to me, at least) and particularly the gorgeous colours!

No wonder they sang ‘Rock the Kazbah’! My favourite is the big plate/ charger second from the bottom. Can you buy the plates after you’ve eaten off them? I love colour : )

    • on December 9, 2010 at 12:54 pm Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

Unfortunately not, and the last time we were there, they didn’t even have the plates anymore! Apparently they’d all been broken and couldn’t be replaced. Very sad…but I was happy I’d taken a couple of photos to remember them!
