Tim Conway’s Elephant Story

July 24, 2010 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

If I’m ever feeling weary or blue, I watch this clip. It always makes me laugh, no matter how many times I’ve seen it before.

It’s an out-take from the Carol Burnett Show of the 1970s, with Tim Conway reducing his colleagues to hysterical tears with his completely ad-libbed lines.   I’m posting it here so that I can find it again easily, but also in the hope that it gives you all a good belly-laugh this weekend!

. . . . .

PS Am loving your Snippets sidebar :-)

It’s just so funny….I love the bit where he says, “the other’s eyes get REAL big..” :)

Glad you’re enjoying the snippets – I’m having fun with them! I wish all my other blogging friends would do something similar – I love knowing how someone’s day is going. Kind of like twitter without actually tweeting. :)

Ok what do they say just before they all fall on the floor… yo mama….????

That’s set me up for the day though ! Thanks x

I think the skit is the family playing a card game, and Carol Burnett says, “go on, mama..” just before Vicki Laurence says her line… :)

Celia – thanks for the laugh!

I’m so glad you said that about the snippets. I was really wanting to copy your idea but I thought it was a bit rude :) Now I’m so going to have a snippets corner too! I can’t get my head around tweeting :(

Sarah, absolutely! Look forward to following what you’re up to in real time! Joanna at Zeb Bakes and I both started snippetting at the same time, only her titbits are known as “Witterings”.. :)

Here’s my tip – in WordPress, type your text into a “comments reply” box on the admin pages, and then cut and paste it into a widget text box. That way you can add images and hyperlinks as well. :)

Thanks for the tip Celia – do you have a way of keeping your snippets or do you have to delete as you go to replace them with the next instalment?

Sarah, I just delete them as I go – anything I really want to save I put into a post. :)

I love the sound the siamese elephants are supposed to make when they trumpet, A kind of ‘snorkelly’ noise!

    Recipe Attribution

David Lebovitz wrote one of the best articles I've read on recipe attribution, and if you're a blogger who posts recipes, it's well worth a look.

In a nutshell, the ingredients of a recipe are not subject to copyright, but the text is, so always make sure you re-write the methodology in your own words, with any changes and modifications you've made. And always make sure to acknowledge the original source!
