I enjoyed this so much that I thought I’d share it with you. Grab a cup of tea and pop your feet up for ten minutes. An entire series was made, each based on a real-life experience from the lead actor’s childhood…

Thanks so much for sharing that. Loved it.
Lona, I’m so glad you enjoyed it – I laughed and laughed! :)
My heart swelled with pride watching this. My eldest granddaughter (aged 6) has just finished Prep and although she generally does not wet her pants her shyness can be crippling at times. I went to the Junior school Christmas concert last week and was just so proud to see her confidently take her place in the middle of the front row and sing her heart out. It was such a contrast from the end of year preschool event last year where she had to be coaxed to even come onto the stage.
Thank you so much for posting.
Fairy, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. And hooray for your granddaughter, she’s a star! :)
Love this! I especially loved the two old ladies and their descriptions of people (“… the one with the face”.)
Thanks so much for sharing, Celia- both of my grandsons were in programs for Christmas- and I didn’t get to see either one- but next yer they will be only two hours away and I’m going to go and see them!!!
Hehehe…”you know, the one with the ankles…” ;-) I’m so glad you’ve all enjoyed it as much as I did.. xx
Oh I loved that so much – it made me cry! Where did you find it?
Jan, they’re currently screening the series on ABC1 – there’s an episode tonight at 6.45. Otherwise, check out YouTube. I tried to buy the series, but it’s not out on DVD yet…
That was awesome. Sister Mary Bernadette is hardly Mother Theresa.
I loved.. “Mummy, I’m the King of Glam Rock!” :D
PS. Apparently Mother Theresa was a tough old bird as well.. :)
I never went to Catholic school but we had Sister Christina who was one scary person who used to smack the kids with her hymnal. I remember her yelling at the boys “You’re in the house of the Lord – act properly or I’ll bash your heads into the pews”. Frankly I wasn’t going to tell Sister Christina that she too was in “the House of the Lord”.
LOL!! Not Catholic? I guess we Protestants have our fair share of scary nuns as well.. :)
Oh I’ve been enjoying these too Celia- aren’t they just great! That girls mum is awesome, imagine if she hadn’t fought for her child, would she be where she is in entertainment today?
Those older ladies are a scream too, I know someone just like that :)
Hope you have a very merry- and glittery, Christmas! X
Becca, the two old ladies are such a hoot! Hope you’re having a wonderful December! xx
LOL so funny, Celia! I needed a giggle.
Goodo, I’m glad it gave you one, darling.. xx
Loved it! I think we can all remember the angst of the parts being handed out for the Christmas Nativity Play – The crying over missing out on being Mary – that part always alluded me. Was usually some bug in the stable xx
It was so very long ago, eh Charlie? I can still remember the boys’ preschool plays though, and the time when Small Man (Joseph) tried to flip the baby Jesus out of the crib… :)
Love it!
Me too!! xx
Was very very cute. I cant remember any nativity plays.
I can’t remember mine, but I do remember the boys’ ones.. :)
As an ex Convent school girl, I can relate!
BTW, if you see a girl dancing, naked, on the top of a piano, she was almost certainly educated in a convent. *just sayin*
LOL! Pat, that’s too funny, I’ll bear that in mind.. :) I have to ask though – do you speak from personal experience? ;-)
That was fab Celia. It is amazing what a little encouragement can do.
And just look where Catherine Tate ended up! :)
That was brilliant – loved the way she came out of her shell. And oh, how many memories of my own school which was pretty much like that and in the same era. I now want to watch the other episodes!
Chica, so do I! This is the first one I’ve watched. I think many of them are on YouTube…
Priceless! Reminds me of the wonderful scene in “Love Actually” where Emma Thompson welcomes the news that her daughter is playing the octopus in the Nativity…!
Isn’t Emma Thompson just the best actress ever? She’s fantastic.. :)
Thanks Celia, that was wonderful! Happy Christmas
So glad you enjoyed it. All the best to you and Leah for a wonderful Christmas – hope it’s not too hot up there! :)
Catherine Tate rules! And the gorgeous girl who played her as a wee (!) lassy.
Priceless.
Aren’t the old chooks hysterically funny too! :)
“We can all get lost in a good book.” Now, that’s a Mother’s love.
Loved it, Celia. How cute was that little girl? I’ve already sent it to a couple friends. Thank you so much!
John, it was a great series, all little stories from the main actor’s past, recreated in a short film format. As you probably know, Catherine Tate has gone on to great things – not the least of which is being companion to Doctor Who! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and I have a post going up in a few hours which I hope you’ll enjoy! :D
Merry Christmas to you! Sometimes all you need is that someone believes in you!
Laila, Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! You’re so right! :)
I enjoyed that 110 percent. And Catherine Tate is one of my favorite companions. Thanks for sharing. Maz.
She’s just the best, isn’t she, Maz! Hope you’re having a happy new year, darling xx
