Happy New Year!
In my kitchen…
…are small bulbs of purple garlic, a gift from our friends Ian and Diana. They didn’t produce a commercial quantity this year, so they’re sharing what they did grow with friends…
In my kitchen…
…are three rounds of Linda’s homemade soap. We use it at our kitchen sink, and find our hands are all the better for it. Her bars are made with olive, macadamia and coconut oils – in addition, one has a luffa embedded in it (great for cleaning grubby garden hands), another has calendula, marshmallow and comfrey, and the third has lemon zest and oats…
In my kitchen…
…are my first ever Tupperware containers, a gift from my darling friend Carol, who had to listen all year to my moaning about not having airtight storage for cookies…
In my kitchen…
…is this beautiful natural fibre bowl, a gift from our neighbours Shaun and Michelle. It was handwoven in Addis Ababa from elephant grass, with all proceeds going to support the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia…
In my kitchen…
…are snowy sugary balls of spicy deliciousness, unusual Persian sweets that gorgeous Becca the InTolerant Chef sent us for Christmas. We’ve been nibbling on them after dinner – the coriander seeds impart a very unique flavour…
In my kitchen…
…are gourmet goodies from our neighbours Nic and PeteV. I’m particularly looking forward to trying the ajvar…
In my kitchen…
…is our Evesham Gold water jug, which gets an airing every festive season…
In my kitchen…
…are gifts from Maude – for Pete, a bag of golden Basmati rice and bottles of Sutton apple juice…
…and for me, an insulated teapot, with bespoke crocheted handle cover…
In my kitchen…
…are fabulous presents from my blogger besties – Charlie’s snowman Christmas cake…
…Lorraine’s flavoursome herbed honey, and Tania’s delicious shortbreads…
In my kitchen…
…is a swirly silicon chocolate mould, a surprise present from my friend Mandy in South Africa, and felted wool coasters from Nepal, a gift from Marcela…
And finally, in my kitchen…
…is lovely Jo’s homemade granola! It’s chockful of healthy goodies, and makes a delicious start to the day…

we have many hours ahead to celebrate 2014, but it’s a fun day for sure!
Happy New Year darling! Can’t wait to see what’s in the shiny new kitchen of yours this month! xx
Happy New Year. I cant believe you are new to Tupperware!
Thank you! Happy 2014 to you too! And yes, these are my first ever Tupperware containers, Carol couldn’t believe it either!

http://blissfulyogajourney.blogspot.com/2014/01/in-my-kitchen-january.html
Thanks Jennifer! I have you listed as “USA”, would you like me to put a city or state down?
Wow! You got lucky this Christmas! All kinds of exciting things! Happy New Year to you!
Thanks Anna! Happy New Year!
Whoa! What a Christmas haul. You were certainly very VERY good this year!
Happy New Year to you all.
Almost everything I got was kitchen related! Gotta love friends that know you well, eh.. :) Happy New Year M, may it be peaceful. xxx
Happy new year can’t wait to see what goodness comes out of you kitchen in 2014.
You’re very kind, thank you! Happy New Year!
That crocheted handle cover is about the cutest thing ever ~ who wants tea? I do!
Sometimes moaning brings about just the right gifts. ;)
Garlic? Always a good gift … or something made with garlic … or garlic and butter in a skillet … or garlic roasting in the oven. (yes to garlic)
I have a thing for pitchers, your Evesham Gold water jug is a special one.
The hickory smoked sea salt will taste wonderful on fish, or chocolates, or eggs.
You have many blessing in your kitchen, thanks for sharing them with us. Happy New Year, Celia, to you and your family! May the coming year be filled with abundant joy and prosperity.
Judy, thank you – Maude’s little handle cover really is the cutest thing ever, isn’t it? Not sure how I wash the pot though – haven’t used it yet! I have a thing for water jugs as well, but have had to resist all the ones on sale – I already have a few!
Have a wonderful 2014, Judy! It’s always a joy to spend time on your blog on the other side of the world! :)
Hi Celia, You got some lovely gifts, You obviously have some very thoughtful friends. Those wool coasters are particularly cute. Happy New Year to you and Pete and your families.
Here is a link to my post. .
http://passionfruitgarden.com/2013/12/31/in-my-kitchen-january-2014/
Glenda, thank you, Happy New Year to you and Maus too! The coasters are hand-stitched from balls of felted wool, they’re dead cute.
In your kitchen, Celia, are all the wonderful and beautiful friends who you inspire from your kitchen! Wishing you and your family good health and a fantastic New Year in 2014!! xx
Barbara, you’re lovely, I loved that our friends knew us well enough to buy us bags of rice and Tupperware containers for Christmas! All the best to you and your gorgeous family for a fabulous 2014!
What a wonderful array of goodies in your kitchen. Kitchen/foodie gifts are just the best aren’t they?! Happy New Year to you and your family and all the very best for 2014. xx
Danielle, thank you! I love hearing from you, thanks for always dropping in and saying hi! Have a wonderful 2014! xx
Your water jug is very special. Just lovely. Happy new year, Celia!
Happy New Year, Misky! And thank you – the water jug must be twenty years old now, so I’m very attached to it!
I posted my January post but I messed up the date so it didn’t post correctly. I used 31Dec 2013! Silly me. I will redo it tomorrow.
Happy New Year! Wish you and yours all the best for 2014.
You received some awesome gifts! The snowman cake looks so cute! The soap will come in very handy!
Manuela, the cake was delicious as well as cute! Hope you and your lovely family all have a fantastic 2014!
Happy new year to you, Celia! Those coriander sweeties sound really delicious! I must ask Bec where she found them… so good for your digestive system. Love the water jug too! So pretty. I agree with Barbara, that in your kitchen you are surrounded by your friends! xoxx
Liz, they’re delicious, and they seem to last forever – we’ve been doling them out whenever friends come over, and the container is still half full! Happy New Year to you and Peter, hope we get a chance to catch up in January!
I hope so too, Celia… if not in January, then definitely this year! : )
Awesome goodies! I love the crocheted handle & the snowman cake & very intrigued by the Persian treats.
Happy 2014!
Happy New Year Azita! Are the Persian sweets not traditional? I just assumed they were. They’re very delicious! :)
I’m not sure I can properly identify them. They look like “noghl” but I could be wrong. They do look cute and delicious! :)
I love that handwoven fibre bowl. Best wishes for the New Year.
Thanks Francesca, Happy New Year to you too! Did you manage to find your paella gas ring? I *think* I saw some at Chefs’ Warehouse in Surry Hills, but they might have been electric ones…
Thanks Celia, I did find some gas ones at a Spanish supply shop in Melbourne. They start at 38 cms and the kind lady on the phone advised that the gas ring must take up only 3/4 or less of the paella pan’s circumference, and so talked herself out of a sale. My wok ring on the stove has turned out to be very suitable for a paella pan of 35 cms.
Oh that’s good to know! I’m glad you found out you didn’t need it in the end! :)
Hi Celia, I have just posted my IMK for January. Thanks so much for hosting this. F
Thank you for sharing your kitchen, garden, family and friends on your blog. What a great assortment of presents in your kitchen. Have a great 2014.
Liz, thank you! Happy New Year to you and your family too! x
[…] I’ve found some wonderful blogs and blogging friends thanks to Celia. Be sure to check out Celia’s IMK first post of 2014. Celia, thank you again and since we aren’t quite into the new year […]
Happy New Year Celia! What a treasure trove you have this month. That handwoven elephant grass bowl is a treasure & I love that the proceeds are going to a good cause. My daughter bought me a top for Christmas that was manufactured by workers paid generous wages, working in good conditions – I hope this catches on and that people will support these efforts. That soap not only looks beautiful but sounds so scrumptious. But I can’t believe that you’ve been living without Tupperware…I could have sent you a cupboard full if I had only known. I finally got around to sorting mine out since Tupperware has a strange way of getting mismatched with tops that don’t match bottoms – give it a few years and you’ll see what happens.
Now I just posted my first 2014 IMK and you’ll have to take a look at my egg coddlers – do they not match your pitcher? It’s funny that I had most of my post ready to go then read yours & couldn’t believe how nice they would look together. Thank you yet again for hosting IMK – I have met so many fun bloggers & enjoy following them thanks to you – Diane
http://dianeskitchentable.wordpress.com/2013/12/31/in-my-kitchen-january-2014/
Happy New Year Diane! If you lived closer, we could trade Evesham crockery for Tupperware! :) I love the range, and have a few pieces in it – we received our first casserole dish as a wedding present nearly 25 years ago! Serendipitously, I was just looking at the egg coddlers at an online store yesterday, then lo and behold, there they are on your blog! Do you have any other pieces? There are two ranges, Evesham Vale, which has a green trim around the edges, and the Gold.
Good morning Celia, happy new year to you, Pete, Big Boy and Small Boy.
Happy New Year to you and Tony, Rose! Hope it’s a glorious one! x
Happy new year, such great presents, I love the crocheted handle on the water jug, it reminds me of the guerilla knitters around Newtown. :-D
Hoping to have another IMK post this month, can I write about cook books I’ve been reading during the holidays plus a couple of other things?
Saucy, of course you can! You can write about anything you want! Look forward to peeking into your kitchen, and all the best for a fabulous 2014!
Happy New Year to you and yours Celia! What a lovely show in your kitchen on New Year’s Day ~ not just because all the items are so special and useful, but because so many of your friends are right there . . . that surely is the greatest gift of all!!
Eha, thank you! Happy New Year to you too! I know exactly what you mean – every time I use any of these items, I’ll be spending time with my friends!
[…] inviting you in their kitchens this month thanks to Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial‘s In My Kitchen monthly […]

Ale, hooray! I hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas with your family and new grandbaby, and all the best for a wonderful 2014!
Your kitchen looks like it is stocked with all kinds of goodies to start the New Year off properly. Wishing you and your family all the best in 2014.
Happy New Year, Karen! It’s stocked with happy treasures – I love that our friends know us so well as to be able to choose such perfect gifts! :)
Fabulous fun here Celia! The soap trio sounds divine. Happy new Year to you and yours!
Pamela, Linda makes the best soap ever, and it saves us a fortune on liquid hand wash! Because we only use it in the kitchen (we use goat soap for showering, as Small Man has eczema), it last for ages and the loofah one is perfect for a post gardening clean up. All the best for a fabulous 2014 to you and your handsome men! :)
[…] is in your kitchen this month? Pop over to Celia’s blog Fig Jam and Lime Cordial to see what is going on in other kitchens around the […]
Your water jug matches my pie dish! Love those felted wool coasters. Happy New year.
I love that you, Diane and I all have Evesham pieces in our kitchens! I wonder if anyone else does as well? Happy New Year! :)
There’s so much going on in your kitchen! I do love the look of all that garlic and how generous of your friends to share it around like that. I also love the sound of those soaps and all the better that they are handmade. I love my Tupperware containers as they stack very well but I don’t have enough of them; must order some more. Happy, happy, New Year to you and Pete and the boys and I hope 2014 is wonderful to you xx
Happy New Year to you all, Charlie! Hope it’s grand! The soaps are just fabulous, and the garlic has been delicious! :)
I do love, love, love this post. Thank you, you will get the “Sharing Award”
You’re very kind, thank you! Happy New Year!
Happy new year! What a great post and what lovely friends you have :) all the best for 2014 and looking forward to reading more of your fabulous posts.
Happy New Year, Stefanie! Thanks for all your support! I saw Moya in Costco the other day, she said they’ve still got another month in their shop. I’m resisting the urge to go back.. :)
You are very welcome Celia, I am so happy I found your blog and I just love this in my kitchen series it really is fascinating to see what everyone has. Moya is so lovely it really is such a shame they are closing, I’d like to go back to buy a few more things although hubby keeps asking if I really need anything else ! :) may have to make a sneaky trip!!
Happy New Year to you, Celia. Hope it’s a wonderful one for you. In my kitchen this morning is homemade butter, because I tried to whip some cream from the freezer before it had fully defrosted. I never learn!
Thanks Jo! All the best to you and your lovely family in 2014! And hey, butter is good. :)
What lovely gifts from around the world, Celia – they say such a lot about you and your friends. A very happy New Year to you and looking forward to your entertaining and uplifting posts in 2014.
Andrea, we really are blessed with the most wonderful friends! Have a fabulous 2014 in Wind in the Willows country! :D
Happy New Year Celia. Just love that bespoke tea pot cover!! My IMK has just posted! thanks for hosting this gem of an idea!
Thanks for joining in! What a great house swap kitchen you’ve landed in! :)
That’s it, I’ve decided I’m moving into your kitchen. Simple. I’ll find room in one of the cupboards (after I’ve eaten it’s contents :) Happy new year my friend !
Oh no problem at all, I’ll empty one of the cupboards out into the Tupperware, they’ll be heaps of room.. ;-) Happy New Year lovely Claire, can’t wait to see what your allotment holds for 2014!
I love that water jug! I think it deserves airing more often than Christmas :) You have some gorgeous edible delights too, and you can never have too much Tupperware.
I’ve just done my January post here http://www.bitesizedthoughts.com/2014/01/in-my-kitchen-january-2014.html :)
Kari, the water jug has stayed out – it might be a permanent summer feature (it carries a lot more water than the one we usually use!). Have a great 2014!
Great way to start the New Year – kitchen gifts from wonderful friends far and near.
Wishing you and your family a Healthy, Happy and Peaceful 2014.
Thanks Norma! All the best to you and your family for 2014 as well! xx

That garlic looks so good. Now you will have to decide whether to keep any for planting! And I love your water jug. You’ve inspired me. My IMK post is up at http://witcheskitchen.com.au/in-my-kitchen-2/
Hooray! I always love peeking into your kitchen! We’ve decided to give up on growing garlic – we never seem to do it well in our backyard! So we’re happily eating Di and Ian’s gorgeous small bulbs! Have a fabulous 2014, and thank you again for your wonderful soap!

Marian, thanks for playing! I’ve added you to the list! Happy New Year and Happy Birthday for January!
You know, your kitchen is full of friendship and that’s wonderful. I do love your jug. There is something very appealing in a round bellied jug; it seems very comforting. One of my Aunt’s had those egg coddlers and I’ve always remembered them and kept a lookout for them here in Australia. Happy New Year Celia.
Jan, did you see the egg coddlers on Diane’s IMK post? They match! Now if only we lived closer, she and I could share.. :) Have a wonderful 2014, darling friend! xx
So many special gifts from loved ones and friends in your kitchen. Looks like you had a wonderful holiday season of sharing. Happy New Year to you!
Thanks Laila! Have a great 2014 with that gorgeous family of yours! :)

Wow Celia, so many responses so fantastic. Happy New Year. One of the best things that happened for me in 2013 was becoming friends with you !. You have some great gifts which proves that you are also a great friend to others as well. Thank you & Pete for being a big part of my year . Happy 2014!!
Happy New Year darling girl! We had our ups and downs, but didn’t we have some good times last year as well! xxx
Happy New Year Celia! I realized while reading your post that you are a full day ahead of me, which fuels me to get my act together more timely. My January IMK has been linked on the actual first day of the month, if you can believe that! Fantastic food and abundant blessings to you and yours in 2014!
Julie, that’s wonderful! Happy New Year to you and your family!
Happy New Year to you and your boys sweetie! You must have been a VERY good girl last year for Santa too shower you with such riches :) Those little coasters and the crochet handle are very cute indeed, but I’ve given up on Tupperware and moved on to see through Decor containers instead. I find they’re easier to use in the pantry, freeze well, and I don’t microwave plastics anyway, so no problem.
I’ll have my IMK up in the next few days, meanwhile I’m busy cooking up congee up for the dog as its the only food he’s allowed to have as he recovers- who knew! Xox
Happy New Year, Becca! We have really enjoyed our unusual Persian sweets, thank you so much for thinking of us! Ooh, and our fabulous chookie card too! :) Hope the dog is ok… xxx

Happy New Year Celia!! I hope you had a FABULOUS silly season! So many wonderful goodies in your kitchen!
I can’t help but think your Tupperware collection may start to expand rapidly over the next year? I don’t have any Tupperware but every one of my friends who do start to obsess over them!!
I love Ajvar, we use it daily in our cooking sometimes in place of tomato paste! Delicious! xx
also have just listed my IMK post for the year: http://gourmetwog.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/in-my-kitchen-january-2014/
xx
Lisa, I’m actually quite partial to glass storage, but I’m keen to see if the Tupperware is as airtight as everyone says it is! The ajvar is new to us, we’ll have to experiment with it! Happy New Year!
hey celia! here is my in my kitchen post…. http://www.loveateverybite.com/in-my-kitchen/kitchen-january-2013/
and how cute is that tea pot!! i’d love that in winter!
Fabulous Giulia! Thank you for playing! :)
Happy New Year, Celia! I love everything in your kitchen, especially that gorgeous Evesham water jug. I have been a fan of Tupperware for many years! Hope you enjoy using yours. The holidays passed in a blur for me. And now we are facing some serious cold weather: the low Sunday is supposed to be about -30 degrees F. The governor of my state just announced all public schools will be closed Monday because of the dangerous wind chills. I’ll be staying inside! xox
Marianne, that’s VERY cold! Take care! Hope it warms up for you soon! x
Abundance! That soap looks amazing. Happy cooking in 2014. Hugs, Maz. :-)
Thanks darling! Hope it’s a glorious year for you and your handsome mencats! :)

Wishing you the best in the coming year- hopefully all changes will be for the better.
I’m sneezing up a storm,here- I can’t get together with the little ones without coming down with a cold- and it makes it hard to type! ACHOO! Good thing that THESE kinds of bugs and viruses aren’t transmitted though the internet! :)
Heidi love, I hope you’re on the mend now! Stay warm, we’re reading lots of scary stuff about how cold it is over there at the moment! xx
It was/is cold- -25 last night and the wind chill about 25 degrees colder. The wood and the joints in the house keep making loud cracking sounds that make me think trees are falling on the deck.
But it is warm in the house- I have a fire going and am baking bread daily to keep the temps and spirits high.’
Join me in too please sweetie! http://intolerantchef.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/in-my-kitchen-january-2014.html
It’s great to see another long list of blogs joining in x
Becca, it’s fabulous isn’t it? I start the morning with a hot cup of tea and a read! xx
This is such a wonderful community you’ve build through your IMK series Celia! Thank you giving me the opportunity to take part :)
Loving all the foodie goodies in your kitchen. Specially loving that crocheted tea pot handle cover! :)
Rachi, thank you for joining in! Great fun to peek into your kitchen! :)
I love Sutton’s apple juice – the ginger is my fave but at the moment we have one with mandarin mixed in. We’re nearly out but thankfully visiting again in March. Lovely basket too. My mum and I don’t exchange gifts but donate to Hamlin every year. I like their cards too and use them all year round. Thanks for hosting Celia. xx
Fiona, our friends visit Sutton every time on their way to Brissie, and they always bring some back for us. It’s delicious! I’ll check out the Hamlin cards, thanks for the headsup! x
happy new year celia – gorgeous gifts – the soap looks lovely and I am amazed you have never had tupperware before – then again I think my only tupperware container is my cake carrier box which I asked a friend to buy at a tupperware party for me. I guess tupperware is no longer part of every Aussie kitchen.
I’ve uploaded my in my kitchen post (finally) at http://gggiraffe.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/in-my-kitchen-january-2014.html
Johanna, I can’t stand party plan parties, so I never go to them. As a result I never had any Tupperware, because for ages that was the only way you could buy it! I’m excited to have some now! :) Have added your post to the list! x
Good morning Celia. Gorgeous as always, I love the colour in that garlic. I cannot believe you have just discovered Tupperware, I just assumed everyone had it!? Not that I am into the parties but it is good stuff.
That woven bowl is beautiful, and even better knowing the funds are going to such a good cause. The sugared coriander seeds sound so exotic, delicious.
I love that bespoke teapot handle cover, that is clever!
I have just scraped in with my post, it is linked. Thanks again for hosting my kitchen x

Bernie, whenever you feel like it, it’s always a treat to peek into your kitchen on the other side of the world! xx
I’ve actually never owned a Tupperware container, it seems weird but true! Nice to know that I’m not the only one (are they as good as they’re cracked up to be?). Love this post. The little Pariya snowfall coriander things have me intrigued..! x
Laura, I still haven’t used it yet! I hope they live up to their reputation – my friend Carol swears by them!
I LOVE the teapot handle! And I can’t believe it’s taken you this long to acquire tupperware! It totally changed my pantry the year it was invaded by pantry moths and grubs.
I know, it’s amazing, isn’t it? I still haven’t used it! Maude’s just made me a lid cover for the teapot as well! :)
Happy new year to you Celia. I have just discovered your site. Made my first batch of home made yoghurt using your recipe. Only one word for it Yum:)
