A Slower Pace

August 25, 2014 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

As I mentioned last month, I’m making a concerted effort to slow down.

That means I’m not online very much at the moment, so please forgive me for not visiting your blogs more diligently or responding to comments promptly.

What I am doing instead is spending time with my family, hanging out with old friends, experimenting in the kitchen, and playing board games with Small Man. Our youngest son had a birthday recently and we went to the Mythbusters Live Show to celebrate…

. . . . .

We’ve been blowing and catching touchable bubbles with baby M…

tb1

I found the bubble solution at Terrific Scientific in Annandale for just $3.95…

. . . . .

I’ve been taking arty photos on my iPhone using the Hipstamatic Camera App…

Please Mind the Gap when Boarding the Light Rail…

. . . . .

…and pottering about in our wet garden…

It’s been raining so much that our muddy backyard eggs look like potatoes!

. . . . .

Hope you’ve all been well and happy! Talk soon! ♥

Great to see the slowing down is going well! Don’t even apologize for not commenting or answering comments, it should not be an obligation and you have all the right to do it at a…. slower pace! ;-)

    loved the touchable bubbles….

Enjoy your time with family and friends- and I love your potato eggs! We’ve been rainy and thunderstormy as well- but I have no backyard eggs to show for it- must remember to get some chooks! LOL!

Making a deliberate effort to slow down is a wonderful thing to do. Looking forward to doing that now that school is starting again and Fall is right around the corner. Saunter on! Maz. :-)

Enjoy your family time, it is something you can never make up later in life! We certainly enjoy our family time as well, of course today it involved some VERY muddy boys!

busy is overrated! enjoy your slow time..x

You should be able to dictate your own pace without any obligation Celia. You should only be concerned with looking after your needs, the rest of us don’t matter in the scheme of things :)
Littlej so desperately would have loved to go to the Mythbusters show, but we couldn’t make it this time :( Your photos are lovely sweetie, the rock with lichen at top is just beautiful. Relax and refresh yourself sweetie xox

Slowing down is the way to go. Getting away form the ‘enthusiasms’ and having time to see the beautiful things around you, or perhaps develop some new enthusiasms. Now excuse me, but my bubbly Celia starter is calling for some attention.

Glad you are enjoying your life!

Hope you are enjoying the family time! I adore that picture of the eggs- one of my faves.

Wonderful! I need to do this too. Had a cold last week, so stayed home all weekend. Played a game of Monopoly with my youngest that started Saturday morning and ended Sunday night…..during the course of the game we also made orange cakes and marmalade and picked oranges from our neighbour’s tree. Lovely. Enjoy life in the slower lane, Celia. I’m sure your family are loving it and you deserve some time for you too! Xxx

I think it’s wise to slow down a bit every now and then Celia, good for you for taking care of yourself. I hope you are enjoying the glorious weather today, I’m so lucky Monday is part of my weekend!

Well at least you manage to do some posts, my life is too hectic to sit at the computer unless it is for crisis management!
Building programme underway and laying foundation for seafood cookery school here. Trying to slow down but it is not in my D & A.

  18. on August 25, 2014 at 11:13 am Eha

Enjoy! To the max!!! [Wicked grin :) !] I am definitely speeding up but that does not mean the computer has ought to do with it!!!!!!!

Slowing down is most important, spending quality times with family and friends. Taking in the very moment , rebooting and setting new goals. Enjoy your time “off” and keep taking deep in-and exhales, it clears the soul and the busy brain.

  20. on August 25, 2014 at 12:13 pm Vicki @ Boiled Eggs and Soldiers

Slowing down is so important and living in the moment to really enjoy life, not just let it pass us all bye. It’s a good reminder for all of us. I also love your potato eggs!

Hi love, glad to hear you are slowing down… that’s a good thing to do! Love those bubbles…

  22. on August 25, 2014 at 5:27 pm Jody

Apologize for nothing Celia. Enjoy slowing down and l love your eggs:)

  23. on August 25, 2014 at 6:12 pm GourmetGetaways (@GourmetGetaway)

I did think they were potatoes! I had to go back to check if I read it right! Fun eggs! Fun bubbles!

Good on you Celia! I often wondered how you manage to cover so much with such diligence. As a ‘type A’ personality myself, I have trouble keeping up with how much you manage to do. Nice to prioritise and smell the roses (or food) in our lives. Family & friends will still be there when all else slows as it inevitably does in the cycle of things :)

We certainly have had a lot of rain and I believe there’s a lot more to come. Happy birthday to Small Man xx

Love the colours in your garden photo Celia! :D Good to hear that you’ve been pacing yourself :D

Permission to potter granted, with love. When every minute is consumed with being busy we’re most liable to miss a small, but glorious second.

  28. on August 26, 2014 at 1:23 am Anne Wheaton

I’ve slowed down so much I seem to have missed your last slow down post. So many other things to do that are much more fun than sitting in front of a computer screen – enjoy them. I’m looking out the Rummikub to while away a wet Bank Holiday Monday evening.

  29. on August 26, 2014 at 4:19 am Chica Andaluza

Enjoy what you’re doing – sounds perfect!

I love your ‘mind the gap’ photo.

You’re all so lovely, thank you! It’s been a wet and happy week! xxx

I am longing for the time when I can slow it down myself. Unfortunately, I’m in full crisis mode trying to get the yard and house ready for my daughter’s engagement party Sept. 13. The shrubbery, weeds, and trees have totally gotten out of control and today I couldn’t stand looking at the back deck railings which are all chipping paint & mildew from the trees. So today was a bleaching & paint scraping kind of day. So looking at your lovely photos has really calmed me down & given me a nice rest break – thank you.

Life sounds good, enjoy your time with your family and friends.

Everyone needs to work at a pace that keeps them happy. Happy people write happy blogs. I know how hard it is to be there for everyone, get everything done and still have enough ‘me’ left to put in the blog. Take a break. We love you.

  35. on September 2, 2014 at 1:43 pm Sandy

Its always lovely to sit back and spend more time on things that really matter, like our family! Enjoy your slow time & make the most of it!
I have actually been doing the same & its wonderful the amount of peace it brings :-)

Slowing down is good. And I love the garden shot (rain or no rain) !
