I’ve just watched this TED Talk by astronaut Chris Hadfield and found it so inspirational that I thought I’d share it with you.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Commander Hadfield, he’s a retired Canadian astronaut who last year spent six months in command of the International Space Station. Apart from his work on the station, he also chronicled life onboard the ISS and shared it with the world via Twitter and Instagram.
He’s an amazing, inspirational human being. You might also enjoy his rendition of David Bowie’s Space Oddity!

I can’t find my head phones so can’t listen to this now but will plan on revisiting tomorrow. I do love TED talks xx
TED talks are the best. The video keeps cutting out because of our bandwidth. Will try again later.
Have a beautiful day Celia.

I love this guy!
I am Canadian and am very familiar with Chris Hadfield. He spoke to my daughter’s school via computer while at the space station. He did speaking engagements with some of our schools while in space to inspire children, they even got to ask him questions. My daughter was only in kindergarten and didn’t quite understand how cool that was!
Being Canadian I too am very familiar with Cris Hadfield. My daughter chose him for a science project last year and the radio station I listen too played his rendition of of a Space Oddity. He is remarkable.
TED are the best! If only the TV was so informative and inspirational.
I really enjoy TED Talks. I’m making my way through food-based ones right now, but I have a ton of space ones in my Netflix queue.
Enigmatic and charismatic scientists. My favourite kind :)
Enjoyed both videos, thanks for sharing.
Wow! he is very inspirational and he can sing too!
Yes, I love this guy too… we’re in Sydney and the Telstra 4G dongle can’t cope in the walls of this hotel, so will watch this later! Thanks for sharing love.
He’s an extraordinary man and that David Bowie song has always given me goosebumps. I was working at the ABC in Sydney when the first moonwalk happened and I remember watching on a screen in one of the corridors and being completely awed by the concept that these men were up there in all that emptiness and darkness and how could they actually do it. I guess facing one’s fears, knowing what the dangers are and how to overcome them is ‘all’ it takes, but I seem to have picked up my Wotif badge when my children were born! but there is always that little voice of regret that occasionally whispers – Wotif?
Hi Celia, I watched both. Love the rendition.
We’re watching it now in our hotel room! Mr NQN wanted to be an astronaut when he was little :P
What an incredibly inspirational speaker. Can you just imagine his experiences? A good friend of mine was an engineer for NASA and she tried to get accepted as an astronaut but unfortunately wasn’t chosen. Even so, just working there during the height of the shuttle program was a dream job for her.
Littlej will love this Celia! She was determined to be an astronaut for years :) Thanks sweetie! Xox
I remember this man. His space flight and “Space Oddity” made national news. From there, I did a little Googling. Hadn’t seen this speech, though. He’s quite a speaker and I’d pay to see him in person. I do disagree, however, with the spider web portion of the program. :)
