I like how these pictures remind you to treasure what is important food and family especially in such volatile times. Your boys are so tall! I grew up in inner Sydney but moved to the bush so I always love to see your food pics.
Thanks Zena. Yes, they’re very tall and grown up now!
Gorgeous Celia…so much love and goodness as usual x
Thanks lovely. We’ve been having a quiet end to the year – just trying to keep things level until it’s over!
Reading between the lines, a lot of emotion in your post…
sometimes there is too much yin mixed with the yang – or is it the other way around? ;-)
I mean too much yin mixed with yang in the universe… not in your post… (just making sure… absolutely nothing wrong with your post, obviously!)
It’s certainly been a tumultuous year, Sally. Loved the Greenlee photos, thank you!!
Oh your mother is beautiful! c
That she is. Inside and out. x
Lovely pics, Celia – and your mum is gorgeous!
She’ll be flattered by all these compliments! :)
Love to hear from you or see! Feels like I’m there too. Love Marilyn
Thanks Marilyn! Hope all is well in your world! x
Glad to hear that there are beautiful and warm things in Celiaworld. Love and hugs, Maz. PS My sourdough is back up to big and bubbly, must have been either the flour or our crappy water that was keeping Big Mama down. I’ve been boiling the water and letting it cool and using Red Hill. All is right in the kitchen. :-)
Maz, I’m so glad to hear that!! Keep baking, dearheart! x
I love these snippets. There is so much emotion in each picture. Thank you for sharing… the pictures of your two boys are just SO LOVELY!!! :-)
PS: Those angels are almost too beautiful to use for marking books! x
Lisa, I’ve been making them and hanging them all over the house. Don’t really read paper books anymore! :)
Lovely pictures that need few words:)
Thanks Jo.. xx
I can read your gratitude for two handsome sons walking abreast in a hopefully free and safe country and a beautiful mother who perchance is beginning to feel less grief. And Paris has never let its lights dim for too long , , , lovely composition which will travel the world. For Australians who have not, please listen to Professor Andrew MacLeod on a replay of last night’s ‘Q&A’ and the most heartfelt words, so highly praised, by Waleed Aly of ‘The Report’.
Eha, it was a glorious speech by Waleed… x
Mama Celia looks as much of a hoot as her lovely daughter.
She’s hilariously funny. Thanks for getting me knitting again Rose, it’s been very therapeutic! x
This post is SO you, Celia. So much love in every photo. Hugs to mum and love to you.
Thanks darling one. Much love to you both as well! xx
Lovely post Celia. I particularly like the ‘shenanigans’ picture.
Kim, it’s hilarious isn’t it? My friend Marty sent it to me. I guess he knows me pretty well after 30 years.. :)
And this is why I follow your amazing blog Celia you take beautiful photos, which sometimes nearly always open’s to our eyes for the first time to memory’s ………xx
Maddy, that’s very kind of you, thank you! xx
Photos taken with such love it radiates from them. Thank you for sharing.
Heather, thank you! They’re all hard not to love…
Felt like I was there… Laughing with your mum… Smelling the bread Emma baked… Praying for Paris… Walking with your boys… And having a coffee with you Celia… Xx
Always a joy to share a cuppa with you, Lina. Love to you and your family! x
Great picture of Mum laughing.
Oh she was laughing until she cried! We had such fun that night!
Your posts always make me smile and remember what is important, especially in these dark and troubled days. Beautiful photo of your mother- what a stunning woman, but then look at her daughter!
Thank you darling. I hope you’re well, sorry I’ve been a bit incommunicado. I think about you all the time though – we made prawn tapas the other day! Oh, and I broke one of my cazeulas! Lucky I have a spare..hahaha
Oh no :( I did too – it didn’t like my horrible induction hob. Luckily we have a gas one in the wings which will be put in some time soon! I’ve been a bit incommunicado too – but still thinking of you x
Beautiful post Celia. I see beauty and love in each of these photos.
Thanks lovely. Hope you’re all well! Is it getting cold yet?
Oh it is getting cold here now. We had such an unusually warm fall that I think we got too used to it & thought it would last forever. Now, we’ve got the cold moving in, some snow flurries already and I’m afraid winter is just around the corner.
It’s wonderful that you are teaching your friend to bake bread. Too many people are intimidated to try. Your mother is just beautiful. I enjoyed all of your pics.
Emma is gorgeous, she’s the daughter of our friend Stephen from uni. She won a prize for her cookies at the last street fair!
Celia, that friendship quote & photo are a hoot! Love your snippets of “life in progress” — truly a life well lived! Just getting ’round to IMK commenting this week (I’m so far behind…) — can you believe November is over half over?! Posts such as this one spur me on to jump into the fray and enjoy every precious moment. xo
Me too Kim – I’ve still got heaps to go. Ce la vie!
I haven’t got to any this month, Kim! It’s been a bit hard this month…
Sukiyaki…. mmmm…
Personally I think the carrots were wrong. Otherwise it was absolutely delicious!
And much love and blessings to you too, Celia. – i love the laugh out loud She-nannigans.
Jan, it’s hilarious isn’t it? I laughed out loud too! Hope you and Peter are both well!
Simply a wonderful post, Celia. You’ve said so much in so few words. :)
Thanks lovely man! Is all well in your world? I’m sorry I haven’t popped in for a bit. Looking forward to the cookbook!
I had replied but, somehow, it was lost. Anyway, I’ve had a trying couple of months but nothing I couldn’t handle. Besides, I’ve a new stove and car to soothe the pain. :) The cookbook was published in September and is available on Amazon here and in Europe. There is no Kindle version – yet. I’m still waiting to see if there’s enough demand to warrant the cost to produce one. I do understand if you find the shipping costs to be prohibitive. I sent a couple of copies to family overseas and could not believe the expense. It might have been cheaper to buy airfare and deliver them myself. :) I will let you know if a Kindle version is in the works.
I hope all is well in your part of Down Under. I cannot wait to see what chocolate goodies you’ll be preparing for the holidays.
Here’s the link to my cookbook page: http://fromthebartolinikitchens.com/cookbook/
Just bought my copy from Amazon, John! Hope it sells well for you! xxx
Thank you so much, Celia. I do hope that you’ll enjoy it and prepare some of the recipes. These recipes are the legacy of the women in my family. Nothing would please them more than to know friends like you are feeding your family just as they once did. I know because Zia feels that way. :)
Your life is beautiful- know it is not perfect- but the way you live and the people you love are really really beautiful. Thanks for sharing- and reminding us all to appreciate the joy makers in our lives!
Heidi!! How are you lovely? I hope the family are all well? Much love to you!
Gorgeous post and what a gorgeous photo of your mum!
She is gorgeous! Thank you!
Such a wonderful post. I also many photos of my boys walking together, though I don’t think all three are in step together. Somehow I just love those photos best, candid every day life.
Gretchen, I could watch my boys forever. I love seeing them interact. It’s been a gift from God to watch them grow up!
Oh, bless. Look at your beautiful mum and those great sons of yours. Thank you Celia for sharing.
Hello darling, hope you’re both well! We’re just cruising very gently towards the end of the year…
Your mother is a beautiful woman. And so many other lovely things too, blooms, beading, bread, boys and blessings for a baby. xx
Fra, she is beautiful, inside and out. We’re very lucky to have her!
Celia, we would have crossed paths this month. that christening was at St Martha’s, my local parish. on that Sunday the 8th , i’m assuming you were there that day, we christened my grand son Jack. we were the group on the left side of the church.
Paul, were you the grandfather taking photos of the little man in the front left? You all looked so happy to be there! :)
Lovely post Celia and that’s a lovely photo of your mum, such a nice smile x
Stefanie, she was laughing and laughing that night. It was so nice to see after a long few months! Hope you’re all well! x
Celia, great post. I love how you so often zero in on what is important. There is much to be grateful for in life. Thank you for sharing the pictures.
Liz, thank you! xx
Hi Celia
what a coincidence , yes that was me taking photos of little jack, with blessings to your family, he’s our first grandchild. my daughter got married at St Martha’s. we live up the road from the church.
Celia. I was reading ‘the clever carrot’ comments on her blog the other day and someone wrote in the comment section- that she finds Emilie’s writing and posts calming and i thought to myself that, THAT’S how i find Celia’s posts and writings. This photo of your mom so adorable. xxxLara
