Chatbooks

November 29, 2017 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

I can’t recall if I’ve mentioned this here before, but I’m a big fan of a company called Chatbooks.

They offer a really affordable way to print out the squillions of phone pics we all take. There are a couple of options – the most economical being a subscription (US$10 per 60 photos, one per page) or you can create custom books for a bit more (US$15 per 60 photos, plus $1 per 6 photos thereafter).

I put together three volumes from our recent trip to San Francisco. The 15cm/6″ square format is small, but the quality is high, and it’s an easy way to have holiday snaps on hand…

Chatbooks currently have a sale on until 3nd December 2017.

EDIT: The sale is now over, but I’ve discovered that as an existing customer, I can give you a referral link. If you use it, you’ll get your first book free and I’ll get a $5 credit! Here’s the link.

…so I’ve ordered a photo book of my morning walks as a Christmas present to myself. It was fun going through the iPhone camera roll and picking out my favourites…

The Chatbooks app works well on both my iPhone and iPad. The software is highly flexible – if you do decide to make a book, take your time to edit carefully to ensure that you get exactly what you want. You have the option to add or remove captions and dates, resize, add  in photos from other sources, and move items around within the book.

Custom covers (both hard and soft) are available, as are a variety of upgrade options. Customer service is efficient and helpful, and cheerfully provided by stay at home mums and dads across the US (how great is that?). Finally, they’ve recently rejigged their postage rates and international shipping is now ridiculously affordable – I paid just US$4 on  my last order.

This isn’t a paid promotion, nor do I have any affiliation with the company – I’m just a very happy customer and thought I’d tell you about them while the sale was still on!

Huge Chatbooks fan here. As a mum with hundreds of photos of my son, this has been the most efficient and effortless way of making hard copies of my favourite photos. I’ve also started to include photos that aren’t of him so the books are a general record of our lives.

You amaze and amuse me with your joyous enthusiasm and dedication to everything that drips and drools of gorgeousnessism .. MOO is another great site for graphics and pics http://www.moo.com . I adore your dinghy shot and aging tree etc .. no wonder you bake with the same beauty as you see .. I’m about to embark on another Sourdough adventure and the consistency of my Starter is alluringly heavy and promising .. I’ll send you a pic or two .. All the Best

I take unusual tree shots too …. somewhere I’ve got a shot of a huge burl of a very huge and old tree in the midst of the 25 wooded acres near a pond on his property. Love your pictures and thanks for the photo information. Thanks for the information and have a blessed week!

It’s raining heavily here in Brisbane and I’ve spent the morning rifling through boxes of photos. My brother who lives in the US makes wonderful photo books – not just of current photos but of old family-tree type photos. I was wondering if there was some way I could do something myself ….. and then I found your post!

Jan, I can offer you something else in that regard – we’ve recently discovered the Google App PhotoScan which lets you scan old photos on your phone really easily. It takes four photos and then edits out glare etc. and we’ve found it works brilliantly well. Works on both Android and IOS – here’s a link to the apple version…

You have as great a talent for photos as you do for words. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a great gift for the elderly mothers who are always difficult to buy gifts. Thanks Celia
P.S. Your morning walks photos could make a magnificent coffee table book 😃

What a grand idea! I was thinking of doing something similar to give as gifts.

$4 postage?! That’s insane. But what a great idea I’m going to check this out – making photo albums in iPhoto is so time consuming. I’m back seeing my folks next week so this could be perfect.

$4 shipping on the WHOLE order, Nance, not per book!
