Remember the artisan bakers flour that my friend Kevin and Robbie sent me?
Well, I finally got to the bottom of the first bag (they’ve actually given me two!). I used the last of the bag to bake focaccia and white loaves for the neighbours…
Inspired by the rescued tea sacks of Elvis and Kresse, I carefully cut open Kevin’s double layered paper sack and ironed it as best I could. I then used it to wrap up this batch of neighbourhood loaves, thereby giving one more life to the paper before it goes into the recycling bin.
Here’s what my lovely neighbours found waiting for them on the back deck! ♥
That is wonderful. I have gotten some wonderful different plastic bags that I can wash and reuse FOREVER! YEA
Appropriate packaging for the bread and focaccia. We have a place that wraps everything in paper and twine, like you did.
Many years ago most things were wrapped in paper, which was then reused many times over. Maybe the paper will get a few more uses before the recycle bin. Great idea! It doesn’t take long to get to the bottom of a bag of flour when one bakes lots! It’s wonderful that you have so much flour. It was hard to get flour here for awhile. One of the main mills had to close for while and all the flour in the stores was sold out. Thankfully now we can buy flour once again.
Love this Celia also greatly enjoyed the Magna Carta Embroidery thanks for drawing to our attention .
brilliant idea celia! I will def do the same.
I’m sure they were thrilled – as always. We all need to keep ‘doing our bit’ even if it’s only a little bit. Your bread looks great and I’m jealous that mine never seems to rise as much as yours 😊
I wish you were my neighbour Celia. I’d love to learn so much of you. And exchange so many goodies for the love of food, company and just kindness.
