Thank you all for your support!
Fig Jam and Lime Cordial has just had its 50,000th hit and to celebrate, we’re going to do what the big bloggers do and have a giveaway. But unlike the big bloggers, our is just a little giveaway – since I don’t make any money from this enthusiasm**, I can’t really offer you a Kitchenaid mixer or a full set of All Clad cookware (no, read that again, I’m NOT offering either of those, sorry to get your hopes up).
However, I do have a few things to share which are very special to me!
. . . . .
For my fellow Aussies, I have two sets of the following to give away :
A copy of my favourite cookbook, Mrs Fields’ Best Ever Cookie Book…

…AND a pair of my FJALC welding gloves, the best thing ever for pulling hot trays of cookies out of the oven. They’re a gorgeously bright orange leather, and sport Fig Jam and Lime Cordial hanging loops.
May you never burn your forearms on an oven rack again!

. . . . .
For my international visitors, I have :
A pair of of the aforementioned welding gloves….
…AND a tin of these fabulous bronze Book Darts (100) – perfect for marking up recipes in cookbooks.
Enter by leaving a comment (one only, please!) – making sure you let us know whether you’re in Australia or overseas.
We’ll take comments until 12pm, 14th December 09 (Sydney time), after which time we’ll put all the names in a hat and get the boys to draw out some winners. Make sure you include your contact details in the email box (it won’t be published), so we can get in touch with you. Good luck and thank you again for all your support!
To all my friends who already have cookbooks and/or welding gloves, please leave a comment anyway, but understand that you won’t be getting another set. If we do pull your name out, I’ll buy you lunch next time we get together.
Edit: Pete just pointed out that it’s easier for people to leave a comment if they have a question to answer. So…completely optional, but if you feel like telling us, we’d love to know what your favourite cookbook is!
. . . . .
**In the Wind in the Willows television series, there’s a scene where Toad’s eyes glaze over as he becomes entranced with a new obsession, and Badger deadpans to Rat and Mole, “I fear, my friends, another enthusiasm..”.
That’s how Pete refers to this blog, as my enthusiasm…

Celia,
There is no one like you on the planet. You are such a treasure! Continued good luck with your blog!
Luv ya,
JB
Celia
Congrats on the milestone – that’s a lot of foodies out there who have found new inspiration from you! Could you imagine a football stadium full of people trying to make the perfect chocolate!!??
You don’t have to put my name in the hat as I am “close” enough to come round and scab a free meal anytime!
Love, Kev
O U go girl ~ you good thing!
I remember the day you asked me if I knew if Fig Jam had any meaning to me (being a country girl with brothers), LOL ~ well 50,000 hits later it seems quite a few people do {big grin :) }, anyway Congratulations, & Kevin you spend too much time on the computer, hi to all from all of us.
Ditto for me for the lunch too.
luv, J.
Congrats on your 50,000 hits. I love the idea of the welding gloves for oven gloves. I’m off to buy me a pair at Mitre 10.
I’m in Oz.
Congratulations on the milestone! You have got me addicted to your (very easy and VERY delicious) lemon and lime curd recipes. Also the vanilla syrup. Both of those items will be making appearances in my Christmas baskets this year :D
Im an international reader, in the states and found my way over here from David Lebovitz’s blog when you told me how to make homemade pectin. While half my freezer is full of apple skins/cores (and my husband is constantly rolling his eyes lol) we will have lots of completely natural and 100% homemade jams, jellies and marmalade’s next year ;D
~Maryann~
Congragulations! Please enter me to win!
I am overseas, in the U.S.
I also found you through David Lebowitz’s blog.
I love your site!
Thanks!
Wow 50,000 sounds all “grown up” Celia – well done! I love the origin of “enthusiasm” and it is a perfect word to describe a food blog. About half the people who hear that I have a food blog first ask “why?”.
You are very generous to buy gifts to give away (as well as giving us all your food secrets). Most of those other blog give aways are marketing events masquerading as freebies….so don’t apologise for not being one of them! :)
No need to enter me in the drawing — just wanted to congratulate you on a fabulous website. I just started reading, and thoroughly enjoy it. Keep up the great work.
Pelletier the Chocolatier
congratulations! your enthusiasm shines and the recipes of yours that i have tried are delicious. it’s only fairly recently that i found your site,i only wish i had found it sooner but i’m gradually working my way through creating some of the delicious recipes you have posted.you are a fantastic cook so keep up the good work.50,000 hits is a gr8 milestone to reach, again well done.i’m overseas in the u.k
Hi there,
Four of us just got together to make jam and the welding gloves were invaluable for stirring, holding jars, lifting pots. I am very excited that you have reached this milestone and you are still going strong. You know I am addicted to figjamandlimecordial!!
Congrats on your 50,000th hit. :) I’m in the US and would love to win the awesome welding gloves. We are gearing up to tap our maple trees this winter and will be boiling the sap over a hot fire, so these would come in handy.
Plus…you can imagine the dog-eared cookbook pages. Thanks for the emailing me about the giveaway and for the chance to win. :)
Thank you so much for sharing with us your Enthusiasm! You’re the BEST!
TP from KL, Malaysia
Thank you for the email and congratulations! Love the giveaway and what a special nod.
One of these days I’ll have to visit your beloved country!
50,000 hits! Wow what crumbshots could have been. I’m still excited to get more than 100 in a day.
Hey there!
I’d love to win those gloves, I’m constantly burning my fingers on hot pans. xoxo
I’m in Brazil.
It is great to celebrate, whatever the reason is, just celebrate. I have had a small celebration myself last month and loved it even if my readers didn’t actually know the giveaway was a celebration… Just wanted to give a present I chose and paid for…
Great to know you are full of enthusiasm, long life to fig jam and lime cordial, I love your blog’s name…. one of my favorite names…
C.
My magnificent gloves were used to help transport my precious 5.5kg Thanksgiving Turkey!! (Do you think I can wash them?!!)
Very interested to hear what your other favourite recipe books are too!!
I LOVE this blog!
Anna
Just washed the gloves on delicate cycle at 30c and gloves fully recovered!!
Felicitations dear Toad! I have enjoyed baking cottage loaves with you from afar! Joanna
The Handmade Loaf is still my favourite book, though I am also very fond of Florence Greenburg’s Jewish Cookery book circa 1953, given to my mother by my gran when my mother first came to England in 1956, – I just looked it up and it is still in print. That’s the book I cooked from as a child. No pictures!
Hi Celia, many congratulations on 50,000 hits! After discovering several food blogs towards the end of their ‘life’, I was so pleased to come across yours whilst still in its infancy! As well as being very fresh and readable, it’s rapidly become one of my favourite resources on jam-making, bread-making, chocolate-making….the list goes on!
Favourite cook book? Nigella’s Feast, I think. It’s one of the few cook books I have from which I have cooked, and returned to, more than a handful of recipes.
Keep up the good work! I love checking my reader to find a new post from you. Best wishes from the UK
Julia
Congratulations on 50,000 hits! I’m so happy to have discovered your blog, full of wonderful ideas and inspiration. Long may your enthusiasm flourish!
(PS I don’t know how to list myself; I am currently in Australia, but shortly to be overseas…plus I already bought a pair of welding gloves (green!) on your recommendation.)
Thank you to everyone who has left a comment so far – I wish I could send you all something!
I am overjoyed to have you sharing this enthusiasm with me! :)
Celia,
That is so cool that you have friends here from all over the world! I’ll bet you don’t have too many other friends from Wisconsin though. :-)
Congrats and keep up the fine work.
Congrats, Celia!!! You do great work here, and it’s always worth checking in to see what you’ve been up to. Here’s to the next 50,000!
And as for favorite cookbook, there are too many to list.
Hi Celia,
Congratulations on your successful blog. It’s fun isn’t it?
As for cookbook faves, I like “Cooking Light”, and “Southern Living’s Easy Weeknight Favorites”. I’m in the US in North Carolina.
Hi Celia,
I’m in Australia and I can’t remember how I found you but I’m glad I did. You have inspired me to preserve! And your giveaway is fabulous because I intend to one day have a”wall of cookbooks”. I have so many favourites but I do have a spft spot for “The Nashville Cookbook” that a dear friend brought back from the US, for me.
Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Onya Team FJALC.
As you are well aware, we’re big fans of your blog.
My favourite cookbook – Charmaine Solomon’s Complete Asian Cookbook. Favourite two recipes in my favorite cookbook – Dahi Murgh (Chicken and Yoghurt Curry) p45 and Alu Gosht Kari (Meat and Potato Curry) p67.
We live 2 doors down.
Dredgemeister and Mrs D.
Hey Celia! Of course I’m landlocked in the USA, and someday I hope you drop in for a visit. I do love your blog!
As for favorite cookbooks, I’d have to say either James Beard’s American Cookery, or Jane Butel’s Tex-Mex Cookbook.
Keep up the good work!
Congratulations Celia – I feel responsible for quite a few of those hits (though now I am back at work perhaps not quite as many). Thanks for providing us with wonderful recipes and inspiration this year. As for cookbooks, you know how I feel about Bill so it is difficult to pick a favourite.
Hello!
I’ve only just started looking at your site and have been enjoying it quite a lot. Congrats on 50,000 hits – that’s amazing!
Welding gloves are brilliant. I may get a pair for myself anyways if I don’t win the draw. :) I’m in Canada.
I’m in the U.S. and I would love the gloves and darts. Thank you
Like everyone else, I think the orange welding gloves are hot. I also desperately need an off line biscuit baking resource, so the book would be awesome too.

Hello from Ireland!
Well done Celia on 50,000 – that is amazing but not surprising as your blog is well worth a read. I am surprised some publishing agent has not tapped you on the shoulder and asked you to print these articles out, bind them and slap a price tag on it. They are so creative and, for me, so helpful.
Continued success!
Gillian
Congratulations on all those readers, though I can certainly
understand why!!! I love reading about what you do with food – inspiritational and a wonderful enthuasism to share with people all over the world…
keep it up, Diana xx
I am in the USA and those wedding gloves look great!
Hi Celia…congratulations! My fave bed time reading….something from the Australian women’s weekly…
Hi Celia,
I am a home grown Aussie and I would like to congratulate you(and the family) on your success. I thank you dearly for the offer of prizes but don’t put my name in the barrel, for I have the greatest prize of all, your friendship.
Your request for stars is not forgotten, I am just recovering from a little accident and as soon as I am able I will send them over.
xmas Cheers
Moo
Ce,
I forgot to mention, please do not put my name in for the drawing. I prefer to wait until we meet for lunch! :)
JuliaB
PS. I agree with Gillian..any day now!
Hey, just found your blog.
I’m going to make some homemade pectin and your ginger jam this weekend.
Keep up the great work!
pat,
Melbourne, AUS
Congrats on 50,000 hits! Wow the welding gloves sound perfect! I love to bake–but have trouble with pot holders—especially with my bundt cake pan—and I have no idea how I would manage the silicone baking ware–thanks for the chance to win—I’m overseas (USA)
I was delighted when I discovered your blog a few months ago. I really enjoy your attitude to food.
Would love the gloves–my husband swiped mine for fencing!!!
Liz from Possum Brush (Aus)
Celia, I think with 50,000 that means you’ve found Your People!
I’m still waiting for Pudding Cam.
Congrats! that is a lot of hits! I would love to win this cookies rock! (USA)
Thank you! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to hear from people all around the world! :)
Celia
The book darts are so cool. I’m in the United States and would love to win the gloves and book darts. Thank you for the giveaway.
Love the website, I have learned so much about handling chocolate from your site, please keep up the good work and technique posts. love them
BTW, the caramelized white chocolate is very addicting!!!
Congratulations on your Blog’s well deserved popularity! I love the quote about enthusiasm! One must have one’s passions. Any mention of the Wind in the Willows animation (by Cosgrove Hall) and I simply must comment (for it is the best show in the history of the universe!). I recently got my copy from: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wind-Willows-Complete-Collection-DVD/dp/B001870VTO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1259888155&sr=8-2
(:In fact I’ve just ordered a second copy so I can send it out on missions to entertain my friends:).
Best wishes from Rowena (in Australia)
Rowena, we’re huge fans as well – adore the quirky humour of Cosgrove Hall. Did you know that Peter Sallis who plays Rattie now voices Wallace of Wallace & Gromit fame?
One of my all time favourite lines from the series is from the episode The Yuletide Entertainment, when Mole is hammering:
Badger: “Mole, do we have to have all that banging?”
Mole: “I’m awfully sorry Badger, but if I don’t bang, Toad won’t have a gondola..”
:)
Cheers, Celia
Congrats from a follower in Australia!
Hi-
I came over from Marilyn’s Toymaker blog (actually from her mention of you on Facebook) and I love your recipes and insights. I’m from the USA- although I use a lot of Aussie ingredients in my baking because my niece is in the Navy and sends me all kinds of delightful “finds” on her visits.
I love the orange welding gloves- what a great idea!
Blogging is one of my enthusiasms as well, although my husband calls it my “addiction”. :D
Thanks for sharing.
heidiannie
Hi Mrs C,
This is so exciting! Congratulations on your 50 000th hit :D
I’m am so happy that I am 1 in 50 000. I love your recipes and all that you make :)
Celia,
Wow, what a milestone, a big congratulations on your achievement. Love going into your website and reading about all the things you do, make and find – maybe one day I will try and make something (you make it look so easy). Thanks for sharing the joys of your food adventures. Keep it coming!
Well done Celia – a great site (even if the title is a bit suss – we all know how FG you are!)
Stephanie Alexander’s The Cook’s Companion is the bible – I can”t cook anyting new without checking out how to cook, prepare or store it.
Pete
Congratulations on 50000 hits! Your website is great, keep up the good work.
PS. I live in Melbourne, Australia
Just found this site and, may I say, it looks scrumptious.
Celia,
I find myself “jumping” to your site each time your name comes up in the Wine Lover Kitchen Forum. Your site is pure delight! I’m in the US and have long admired the Book Darts.
Thanks so much for your entertaining site, hope someday to visit your side of the world!
Have only just discovered your blog, but I am sure it will become one of my faves. Welding gloves – what a cool idea for oven gloves! I have been using a hand towel or whatever has been at hand, since my fave oven mitt (a really old butcher stripe one with what I think was, oh horror, asbestos in the lining!)went the way of the gods many months ago. I don’t like those padded mitts they sell everywhere – totally useless. I guess if I don’t win this giveaway, I’ll just have to find where to get a pair!
Look forward to continuing to read your blog, Sharron (Australia)
not sure if its about ‘big’ bloggers or not … I’m just 5ft TALL … nice idea for a number worth celebrating – CONGRATULATIONS! @frombecca Inside Cuisine
