Little Christmas G1veaway #4

December 10, 2010 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

Little Christmas g1veaway #4 is for the chocolate lovers…

This chocolate mould was a happy find from Candyland Crafts in the US.  It produces a bar of chocolate guaranteed to make small children and sentimental middle-aged women squeal.  I have one of these moulds to share – brand new and unused.

Have a look at Irish Gill’s superb version in white chocolate!

Please εnter by leaving a comment below.  All five g1veaways will close on  Monday 13th December 2010 and you’re welcome to εnter all of them.  Thanks for joining in the fun!

I would love this chocolate mold! If I don’t win it, I will likely buy one! Happy Holidays!

Oooh! Chocolate! I loved those books as a child.

On an unrelated note – my latest batch of jam, despite me adding extra pectin, extra boiling time, and it jelling on the test plate, hasn’t set. Any tips on how I can rescue it, or should I just label it as a sauce, instead?

Lillith, if it set on the plate, it might be fine. Our jams are often runny in the jar, and they harden up a little when they’re opened and go in the fridge. It might just end up a very soft set jam? Try opening a jar and putting it in the fridge overnight and see if you’re happy with the consistency, before labeling it as sauce.. ;-)

Ah now my kids would be most upset if I didn’t enter this one! You might have to give me another lesson in tempering chocolate to go with it if I win though! :)

eeeeeeeeh (sentimental middle-aged woman squealing). Not really an entry though Celia as I have no skills in the chocolate making department (only in the eating – I don’t suppose you’re giving away one of the bars? :)

Celia, I am not entering for this competition … Just wanted to say that you are shortening my week :-)

When you temper and use these moulds how do you make the reverse side smooth? Or isn’t it? As I am at the very beginning of my ‘moulding with chocolate’ personal movie, I think this one is a bit out of my league. But it does look spectacular!

    • on December 10, 2010 at 6:32 am Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

Jo, the back isn’t super smooth – you fill the mould with tempered chocolate and bang it on the bench to level it out and get rid of any air bubbles! :)

    So fun! Love it!!! =)

    This is so very cute!
I have some gold leaf that I’ve been thinking about wrapping around star cookies. But it would go so much better on a “golden ticket” chocolate bar! I love that gold is edible.
I would love to give away a real golden ticket!
Add me to this one, for sure, if I don’t win it, I’m sending away for it. (That gold leaf is “burning a hole in my pocket” as my mother used to say!)

“Oh, I’ve got a golden ticket, I’ve got a golden ticket of my own…”

Here’s the clip from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory:

Hadn’t considered myself middle aged he he but I can still remember seeing Willy Wonka at the beautiful Regent Theatre in Brisbane (sadly now being re developed) when I was about six….. and being allowed to buy a Wonka bag! Thank you for reminding me.

This is an excellent inspiration to have a go at this chocolate caper! Thanks again for the fun ;)

That is the coolest thing I’ve seen this Christmas! I could make it with the Sweet William dairy free chocolate for a real treat for us lactose intolerants. Or I could make a Hestons feasts style dinner and use a jellied stock brushed with gold leaf. Or I could make a wobbly mango pannacotta bar tinted mangoey gold. Or I could…. the options are endless! Isn’t it funny how a childhood memory can spark your imagination?

Oh wow. My hubby once mocked up a golden ticket on the computer and wrapped it in some chocolate for he kids. We LOVE willy wonker!!!!

How cool is this mould! I’ve been looking for a block mould, but wanted something a bit different. This appeals to those big and small.

Well I couldn’t possibly let this one pass me by. And if I was lucky enough to get my hands on it, it might just force me into getting this tempering sorted out!

    • on December 13, 2010 at 6:47 pm Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

I’ve never seen them here, but you can buy them from Candyland Craft in the US – the link is in the post! Thanks for commenting! :)
