Easter at our house involves a lot of chocolate!
I made yet another food processor cake – this one lasted just two days…
Our Easter lollipops are a blend of Callebaut 811 (54%) and 823 (milk)…
The hens and eggs were made by filling one side of the mould with tempered chocolate, clipping on the other half and then giving them a good shake and roll…
We’re trying a new dark chocolate blend this Easter:
- 40% Callebaut 811 (54%)
- 40% Valrhona Guanaja (70%)
- 20% Callebaut Cocoa Mass (100%).
We’ve made just a few large eggs – chocolate this dark is a grown-up treat…
Finally, a batch of feuilletine chocolate was shaped into a variety of shapes, including these bears on sticks. The pailleté feuilletine was added to the dark milk blend to create a “Kit Kat” style chocolate…
More to come tomorrow!
I wish you would come over here and show me how to do this xxx I have bought the chocolate, it’s sitting in the cupboard waiting…. in the meantime have a wonderful weekend. love to you Pete and the boys xxx
Darling, if I could come over, you know I would! Maybe we need a skype tempering session? Have a wonderful Easter weekend too! xxx
I used to love making my own Easter eggs :) have a blessed weekend!
Tandy, it’s so much fun – we get on a roll and it’s hard to stop, and the next thing we know, the house is full of chocolate! :) Have a wonderful Easter!
Wow.. your skills are just incredible.. I would shop at your place if you opened one.. just sayin’!!
Smidge, you really are very sweet. Wish I could send you an egg or two! :)
*sigh*
How fun! Your chocolate are gorgeous, I’ll take a dark egg please.
Matina, thank you! The dark egg really is for me, and our friends Bern and Jane who love dark chocolate!
Amazing! Come and make me something like this! I want a home made Easter egg. I shall have to buy myself some moulds. That cake looks incredible. You might enjoy the cake I post tomorrow :D
Nick, you make me smile! I wish I could give all of you one of our homemade eggs – unfortunately, the photos are as close as I can get! Will watch out for your cake post – I’m a bit behind in my reading this week, but I’m keen to read about your curries!
Can you come teach me when you’re finished at Joanna’s house? ;) Seriously, you inspire me with these chocolate posts!
Abby, I have absolute confidence in your capacity to master just about anything! It’s a good time to start too, when your children are little. We used to make little Easter chocolates to hand out at school! :)
How cool and fun! I agree save the dark for the adults!
Thanks! The dark is definitely adult chocolate – in fact, very little of it leaves the house! :)
Is the Dutch process cocoa in the cake recipe powdered? Happy Easter to you and your family. :D
Misk, yes, dutch process cocoa powder. Have a wonderful Easter! :)
Wowee! They all look utterly delicious (well, they would to a chocolate lover!). You’re so clever to be able to make such amazing looking treats. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
C, we’ve had great fun this year, playing with chocolate! It was too much for just one post! :) xx
I used to make chocolate Easter eggs when my son was little, but my husband is the type to eat one square of chocolate a week (sickening, I know) so I just don’t do that anymore.
Deb, maybe you’ll need to make chocolate eggs and hand them around the village? ;-)
Beautifully done Celia. Have a super Easter weekend.
:-) Mandy
Mandy, thank you! Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend too!
Celia, your chocolates are outstanding! Happy Easter to you and your lovely readers.
Lizzy, thank you! Have a wonderful Easter long weekend!
Anyone in your home over Easter is in for a real treat – they are all beautiful! I love the idea of ‘Kit Kat’ teddy bears on sticks
Suelle, thank you! The “Kit Kat” choccies are my boys’ favourites – we even made a feuilletine egg this year!
I love it all. I’d love a slice of that delicious cake – how beautiful it looks with all that frosting, and I’d love to come to your house and do my Easter shopping, buying your eggs and chickens and bunnies for my family. Your boys must be so excited to have all these hand-made treats xx
Charlie, there’s always lots to share – as usual, I’ve ended up with more chocolate than we or the neighbours can eat this year.. :)
Let me know when you’re coming, and I’ll make you a cake. :)
You’re amazing! They look fantastic.
Sonia, thank you! We’ve been having lots of fun!
Ah, can I knock your door :) Happy Easter dear Celia, these are so beautiful, so beautiful… Thank you, with my love, nia
Nia, thank you! Have a wonderful Easter! xx
Beautiful work once again, Celia. the finish on these eggs is just perfect.
Oh, how I wish I lived next door to you.
Darling, if you lived next door, both of us would have to widen our doorframes to get in and out.. :) Thank you, and have a great Easter! x
Oh, they all look delicious! Happy Easter!
Thank you! Happy Easter to you too!
I wish I could say what you said to Tandy “…and then our house is full of chocolate!” I’d love a house full of chocolate!
Heidi, there is ALWAYS chocolate here, although it’s not always tempered and ready to go. We rarely buy gifts for anyone – more often than not, it’s something we’ve made in the kitchen, and it almost always involves chocolate! :)
Celia they are fantastic. I wouldn’t mind a slice either.
My favourites would have to be the little chickens coming out of the eggs. So cute!
Claire, they were fun to make and the choccies on a stick have been popular this year! Wish I could share a slice of cake with you! :)
Those chocolate lollipops are adorable! I really admire your patience with all these goodies :)
Thanks Christie, is your wee girl old enough for Easter chocolates yet? I’m sure it’s a fun time for her! :)
Ahh…. an Easter full of chocolate! Just like it was meant to be! Looks amazing… as usual! You’ve got a way with chocolate my friend!
Thanks SK! More to come tomorrow! :)
Wow! That looks great! I prefer the dark chololate, but it all looks very scrumptious. It’s probably easier to work with the chocolate now, than at Christmas, when it’s so hot. Have fun!
Manuela, thank you – the weather has been so weird that it’s about as warm now as it was leading up to Christmas! But it hasn’t been nearly as humid, so that has been easier!
I love it when a plan comes together. And my favorite kind of chocolate? = Anything within 12 miles. :-)
Hehe…you’ll cast your net very wide for chocolate, Maz! You should come to our house, there’s always chocolate within 12 feet. :)
Scrummy! I am looking in to making chocolate in the near future. I made your processor cake and it was divine Celia.
Rose, that’s so good to know, thanks for the feedback! :)
I am surprised the cake lasted 2 days. Amazed at your skills and patience. Dark chocolate is my favorite. I will not be greedy, only one please. Thanks.
Thanks Norma! Less skill and patience, and more just practice, if that makes sense. After a little while, it gets easier.. :)
Hi Celia, can you believe I said no to a Valrhona tasting when I was at Chefs Warehouse……..
Your dark chocolate mix looks so good
Elaine, the Valrhona chocolates are all surprisingly different! Maybe next time! :) And thank you.. :)
So very lovely Celia, I just love those chickens!
Thanks Becca! Have a look at Joanna’s blog – she has a thread running there about commenting on WP. x
I still have to log in to wordpress each time Itry and comment, and only on my main laptop as it won’t accept my tablet at all!!
And more spectacular Easter chocs – just lovely. Although I was entertained by the idea your house is only filled with chocolate at Easter ;-)
Hehehe…sprung! It is, as you quite rightly infer, filled with chocolate all the time. It’s not always tempered though.. ;-)
