Dearhearts, Fig Jam and Lime Cordial has had its one millionth page view!
Our blog is a simple record of our adventures. It doesn’t make us any money, nor do we actively promote it in any way. I learnt a long time ago that, at least for me, the fastest way to take the pleasure out of a hobby was to turn it into a business. With that foresight, we’ve actively and consciously rejected the offers we’ve had to “monetize the blog” or raise its profile.
That makes this milestone particularly poignant for us. It means that those of you who have been kind enough to visit and read along with us have done so because you’ve sought us out, or chanced upon our blog, and decided that you’re interested in following our journey. We feel truly blessed to have found a worldwide community of friends who share our values and goals.
To celebrate, we’re giving away TWO 500g packs of my homemade chocolate, made TO ORDER from Callebaut Belgian chocolate. This contest is open to both Aussie and International readers (one pack will be sent locally, and the other overseas).
Here are the options available – the winners will be able to select any two of the following:
- Plain Chocolate, in either milk, 54% dark or 70% dark. I can also mix and match the chocolates to create a blend to almost any % cocoa requested.
- Milk or Dark Chocolate Golden Tickets
Please note: I will do my very best to ship the chocolates in peak condition to the winners, but if you’re in a super hot part of the world, or you know that the chocolate won’t pass your country’s quarantine rules, please let me know. If you’re selected as a winner, I’ll send you a pair of our Fig Jam and Lime Cordial welding gloves instead!
Please enter by leaving a comment below. Make sure you let us know whether you’re based in Australia or overseas. Entries close at midnight (Sydney time) Friday, 5th October 2012.
What would your dream chocolate look like? Who knows, if you win, maybe I can make it for you (but no promises!).
Thank you all again for your wonderful support! It’s been an incredible few years, made all the more special for having shared it with you. ♥
Congratulations! I would prefer a dark golden ticket,I’m in South Africa
Dear Celia, I just wanted to say congratulations, A million is incredible, you must – and should – feel so proud. I really enjoy your blog and love the name, it is a superb name, and only good things could come from such a name :)
Congratulations ! Onward to two million !
Dream chocolate bar ? Macadamia nuts covered in dark chocolate. Sigh.
Peace
Siggi in downeast Maine
Wow! That’s such an impressive milestone, Celia. Congratulations. I wonder if I was the one millionth person to visit! I would feel very special if I was. I love all your chocolates but I think the favourite of mine has to be the golden ticket bar because you once gave me one and I hid it from everyone else and didn’t share it! xx
Wonderful milestone, well done Celia!
My dream chocolate would be with walnuts, I think. I don’t know, but it sounds great!!!
Go you, how fabulous to be so successful without even trying…if I win you can give my chocolate bar to charity as I have to lose 8 kilos before Christmas…sigh.
Congratulations Celia – what a great milestone!
My dream chocolate bar would have really interesting dark chocolate, a crunchy/nutty praline – perhaps hazelnut praline, crystallised ginger because who can go past the ginger and dark chocolate combination?! Needless to say it would be shiny and perfectly tempered like all your chocolates are! It would not be addictive or laden with calories…you did say ‘dream’, right?!
Congrats Celia! Wow, one million. Some of the recipes that you’ve so graciously passed on, have become family favourites. Thanks so much for that and I know I’ll be part of the next million views. Take care.
Congratulations Celia! What a wonderful milestone!
I think I’d have to go for the almond bar. I just can’t go past the chocolate and nut combo. Oh how exciting it would be to win!
Celia a huge congratulations that is rather… awesome!!!
YAY Celia!! :D Well done and what a great achievement. I’m so going in the running for these. I don’t normally but you know what a fiend I am for your chocolates :P
Congratulations on one million views!! Keep up the good work, I look forward to your posts. I wouldn’t dream of not opening one.
congratulations my dearest celia! onward to 10 million! thank you for all your marvellous posts! i wish all the very best to you and to your dear ones! have all my love and zillion (!) happy autumn greetings from greece! gina:)
such a nice round figure…congrats on the milestone!
I’d share some darkchoc coated ginger with my dad (the one who gave me my taste for ginger to start with) and some milk/nut choc with my hubby as he has a sweet tooth :)
a huge million hugs for your great blog Celia, i look every day.
ahhhhh, chocolate is just soooooooooo yum. But yours even look more tempting.
ok, all the very best from the Midnorth -Coast NSW.
Congratulations on your million.I enjoy your blog so much and am glad to see that so many others do as well. Dark almond chocolate for me please. I’m in good old Aus.
Well done Celia! That is an amazing achievement! I am so happy for you. And if I won I would love a surprise sent to my sister :)
Congrats on the milestone.
At the moment – we’d probably like honey centred chocolate, formed in farm animal moulds to adorn my almost two year olds birthday cake…
Everyone has already said it but … Congrats!!!!!!! Fave chocolate? Glaced citrus (orange, lemon, cumquats I am not fussy) coated in dark chocolate, second fave would be glaced ginger coated in dark choocolate … so that means I would love to be in the draw for your ginger chocolates. It is heating up here though, so maybe you are best to send them to someone south, maybe Tasmania or the south Island of New Zealand …
Congratulations Celia, but no surprise to me. I think most of us can spot sincere generosity of spirit and a genuine passion when we see it! xxx
Congratulations, love your blog, would love the gloves if I’m a winner!! Cape Town South Africa. Keep blogging.
Oh my oh my! What a milestone indeed Celia! I’m so very impressed and proud of you sweetie! You truly are an inspiration to so many of us with your lovely posts about your cooking, gardening and family adventures. Here’s to many, many more! xox
Congratulations on your one million page views. You have a lovely blog and your chocolates look so mouth wateringly good.
Congratulations! My perfect chocolate would involve a fifty-fifty milk-dark blend.
And be in the shape of a car. Or something. Chocolate tastes better shaped.
Congratulations, of course – what a wonderful achievement! You know (roughly) where I live :D
My dream chocolate would be super dark with ginger AND chilli in it. It would be such a metabolic rev-up bar it would probably make me lose weight just digesting it!
Well done Figjam family. I think you should buy a lottery ticket to celebrate too!
I have very unsophisticated tastes – my dream chocolate is white chocolate with a strawberry fondant centre. I’m informed that white chocolate isn’t REAL chocolate, but I care not a whit!
I live in north west NSW.
Bye
A
Congratulations. What an achievement and all the more so because you don’t promote your blog. I suspect that if you had monetised it then fewer of us would keep coming back because who wants to wade through adverts and the like? All your chocolates look delicious; I can never resist hazelnut praline or chocolate with coffee.
Congratulations on a million views, although for a moment I thought you were going to tell us you had won a million on the lottery, and would be retiring!
My ideal chocolates look like the ones you make – glossy, good quality, well flavoured chocolate! Ginger is always a favorite, but I’ve just tried a Green and Black’s Spiced Chilli bar which is really interesting – star anise is one of the prominent flavours!
We’re coming into a colder season now, so posting to the UK would be no problem!
Congratulations! I drop by your blog almost daily and am astounded at all the beautiful things that you make. I often wonder to myself where you get the time, but admire you & Pete for all the wonderful things you cook and bake, and all the different things you try.
Keep up the great work.
Celia, can you please tell me where you got your Infrared thermometer from? Thanks, Lily
Hi Lily, I bought it at Chefs’ Warehouse in Surry Hills, Sydney! :)
https://figjamandlimecordial.com/2010/02/12/chefs-warehouse/
Many congratulations from the UK for achieving this immense milestone. Your expertise in the kitchen is inspirational and those occasional peeps into your family life beautifully illustrate that you are an “ordinary” person just like the rest of us.
Thank you again for sharing so much and I for one will be contributing to the next million!
Congrats Celia – a million page views is HUGE! Job well done. Your chocolate looks fantastic. My dream chocolate has Peanut Butter in it…and it would be bigger than my HEAD!
Well done Celia. I’ve so enjoyed your blog and the inspiration and fun I get from it. It’s like a present that goes on giving – and a chocolate covered one at that!
Well done! I am still working towards double figures.
Congratulations on a million views!
Seeing as I am Belgian (living in the UK) it would be a bit odd to have some Callebaut chocolate winging its way back over here from Australia, so no need to include me in the giveaway (though the feuilletine and hazelnut praline both look amazing), but I’ve been reading your blog without commenting for such a long time it was about time I wrote something…
Thanks for stopping by, Annie! And for reading! :)
I just love your blog and the chocolate posts …. Willy Wonka for adults! I’d love any of them. I’d even eat the welding gloves if they were chocolate coated.
I’m so glad that you decided not to monetize your blog – I think ads are ok, but not sponsored posts! So many food blogs have gone that way that I think reviews etc have become too commercial. Dream chocolate would contain figs. mmmm…. Lien from Sydney
Congratulations Celia! I stumbled across your blog last October during early morning feeds with my newborn (dont know how I stayed awake with my other kids without an iPhone and entertaining blogs for company at 3am!!) and have been addicted ever since! I’ve been meaning to tell you for ages how much I LOVE reading your blog and trying out your recipes (the bread and m/w lemon curd are favs) and what better time than on this special milestone. Feel so so happy for you so can’t imagine how thrilled you must be.!!! HUGE congratulations xx
Congratulations! It is a wonderful milestone. My favourite chocolate is very dark, not too sweet, and has a hint of chili.
Oh my goodness – yum, yum, yum! Congratulations I so enjoy reading your blog, obviously along with lots and lots of other people! Dark chocolate with coffee and pecans would be just delightful :)
Congratulations Celia!! Thats incredible. I have been a regular reader of your blog since the time I discovered it few months back. And I’m so glad for you to have reached this mark – Hurray!!
I would love to try one of the ginger chocolates – I have never had one with ginger before. And the dark roasted almond bars look yum too.
Wish you many more milestones ahead.
(I am based in India but the weather in my part of the country is pleasant enough and the chocolates won’t melt :) )
Congratulations on the milestone Celia!! Thank you for sharing all of your baking and life experiences. I truly love your blog!! I’m not picky when it comes to chocolate, however I think I would have to turn down any that contained an insect of any sort:) I would have to request a dark bar with no nuts though, in order for me to accommodate my husbands preferences. We reside in the US.
Congratulations. You most certainly have built a community and you should be very proud. All I can say is lucky winner cause these chocolates are very very nice . good luck and good god thats a lot of page views…xxx
Congratulations Celia & Pete – one million is HUGE!!!
Your blog has inspired me for the longest time and I love reading your posts during my lunch hour at work :)
Thank you for inviting me in to your FG&LC community with your posts :)
* I mean FJ&LC community – it’s late and my fingers don’t want to work!!
xx
Congratulations on such a wonderful achievement. I think that people appreciate the warmth and friendship that the two of you spread among your readers. I’m a dark chocolate girl myself…but I won’t start counting my chickens before they hatch.
A million people are so much happier and well informed for having met you in blogland, Celia! Oh I know a lot of us are return visitors- but I like to think of your warmth, love, and recipes spread out amongst the many!
I would love any of your chocolates, although I prefer dark and spicy- so perhaps the dark choc. with ginger?
Such a generous offer, thank you.
Congratulations!!!
I love reading your blog and really enjoy making your recipes. The photography is brilliant too. So here’s to your next million!!
And yes, I live I across the border in SA.
I love all chocolate! Maybe in the shape of a cocoa bean with some new filling…..from your garden??
Now that’s a milestone, Celia, and congratulations on its achievement!
Not that I think I’d win but please don’t enter me in the contest. I’m a relative newcomer here and feel I’ve already been rewarded; the Mrs M stories being priceless. I hope the winners are 2 of your subscribers who have been with you, encouraging you, since the beginning– or very close to it. And again, Congratulations!
As they say, the key is to be yourself, everyone else is taken! ;-)
You are an amazing blogger, amazing human being, and it simply shines through your site, no wonder you hit a million page views! I am fortunate to have found your site and do my share of clicks! :-)
as to the chocolate, I am humbled that you would ship it to such a far away place, but if I win, I rather have a simple dark chocolate, no fuss, no frills. You know, I am that kind of a person. ;-)
Many hugs going your way, from your number 1 fan. Yeap, I am taking that spot.
One million! how truly magnificent.. and I so agree about our Weblog family! We are truly blessed with the ability to communicate in this medium. Have a truly lovely day and even though like karen I should not count my chickens (actually I cannot count my chickens there are too many of them) .. I love the idea of the welding gloves!! ha ha ha c
Yay! That’s so exciting, and it’s because you are so fabulous. I love reading it all: dinner, family, chickens, garden, and (of course) chocolate. Congratulations!! :)
Congratulations Celia
My favorite chocolate is dark chocolate with bits of citrus but this dark Ginger Chocolate look very tasty.
I live in Catalonia (Spain)
That is such a wonderful achievement, and certainly well deserved — this is one of my favourites when I’m looking for information and heartwarming content. Well done, Celia.
Dear Celia, congratulations on a brilliant milestone. Well done and well deserved. Please keep it up. I would miss your posts, lovely. xoxo
Celia dear, congrats! That’s a pretty significant milestone and a very well deserved one. As I was lucky enough to win your last draw I won’t put my name in the ring but wish all the others lots of luck.
CONGRATS, Celia. I am so glad I found your blog learned a great deal from you. Looking forward to another million.
Congratulations on your milestone. I agree with and applaud your philosophy.
Congratulations Celia. I enjoy all aspects of your blog, whether your kitchen, the yummy food, around Sydney and particularly the chookies. A milk ticket would be lovely. Joy
Congratulations Celia, amazing effort! Your blog is full of inspiration and I thank you for the many connections you have given me into the blog world via your IMK segment. All of your chocolate always looks incredible x
Wow, I enjoy your blog so much thank you for all your sharing.
WOW! WOW! WOW! I am speechless and hankering for a chunk of chocolate now:) Congrats – CELEBRATION – YAY!!!
Wow, what a milestone and what a great way to celebrate! Congrats.
Congratulations! Your blog has taught me so much! Hope you continue sharing all your stories.
I would love dark chocolate in any form.
Congrats. I’m from Israel and i love your blog. i love the good vibe and the sense of real and satisfactory life i’m getting from it. And the food of course… My favorite chocolate is dark with almonds and cherries or with raspberry.
Thanks
Congratulations dear Celia, I can eat all of them :) Thank you, I love you and your blog… love, nia
Congratulations Celia, and to all the family as I am sure that as you “type” their presence is running through your fingers. Your blog continues to be inspiring in so many ways, perhaps reminding us all of the humble challenges and inherent beauty that is often so close by. As for chocolate I imagine something dark, with moistened raisins and flecks of ginger enclosing a delicious coconut centre….. it is nice to dream…
Congratulations Celia! I have learnt so much from you through your blog and reading each post is a joy. I’m in SE Qld and would enjoy any of your magnificent chocolates (except ginger!).
Fantastic milestone, Celia! That chocolate is beautiful and shiny and gorgeous.
Now about those welding gloves. Did you make those too?? I used to run a work glove manufacturing company in the states years ago. :)
M, I didn’t make the gloves (found a bulk buy on ebay – somewhat surprisingly, welders don’t seem to like fluoro orange gloves!), but I did sew hanging loops onto them. I wrote about them here.. :)
https://figjamandlimecordial.com/2009/03/02/cool-thing-1-welding-gloves/
Congratulations Celia – I’ve come to enjoy your blog through In my Kitchen and it is always a joy to visit – your chocolates look amazing – I am not sure about my favourite chocolate but I know that some of my favourite things to pair with chocolate are praline and raspberries (not necessarily together)
Congrats Celia. I love your blog. Somehow it always makes me feel hungry and longing for honest, homegrown, beautiful food. But if I win, you guys have to bring our prize out to Scotland Island for a visit to meet me and Girlzed. Or even if we don’t win, you should come and visit! Keep up all your gorgeous baking, you are an inspiration. Xxxxxx Emily Vague
Congrats to you! I would say the Milk Chocolate Golden Tickets. but I’m not a sweets lover so maybe I would opt for the Fig Jam and Lime Cordial welding gloves instead! I live in the U.S. cjbrick@ymail.com
Celia, many congratulations on your one millionth view. You must be chuffed that your blog is so successful and that you haven’t succumbed to advertising or sponsorship which for me personally is a real turn off. My family love your Food Processor Pound Cake recipe and all its variations. I’m in Scotland and (shock, horror) not a chocolate lover but I do like the look of your gloves.
Too difficult to send to me so don’t put in the draw. But just to say very happy to be part of those million views.
Congrats to you Celia! What a wonderful achievement. This is what happens when you have honest, good quality content!
My dream chocolate would be a mix between milk and dark with toffee! But I’m sure any of your chocolate is delicious!!!
Celia I am a newcomer to your blog and I live in South Australia where Spring has definitely sprung. I enjoy reading the new posts (almost) every day because it is obvious you love writing them. Sort of like friends having a good old chinwag over a cuppa you know so please don’t ever lose that. Take a clean Bickfords or similar Lime Cordial bottle and fill with a rich luscious chocolate sauce which could be used sweet or sour.
Celia, you are amazing. Congratulations on your first million!
Wonderful to see how many people appreciate the time and effort that goes into your blog!
Do not enter me in draw , I just wanted to make a comment.
Diana
Congrats on your million! I’ve enjoyed reading your stories over the last year or so :) And personally I love that your site isn’t covered in ads. Dream chocolate is dark with peanut praline. mmm.
One million, wow! Such words of wisdom too about how you’ve kept the success of the blog. Dream chocolate…hmmm, think honey will be better placed to answer this one as I’m very easily pleased with smooth dark chocolate 50% – 70%. Fillings are a bonus, but with pistachios and sea salt will be an excellent dream combination for me.
Opps, was dreaming of chocolate and forgot to say the huge congrats I meant to! Congrats Celia and Pete! We look forward to reading more about your food adventures.
Wow congratulations! That’s an incredible achievement. I wish you all the best on this happy occasion. I’m based in Adelaide.
So many blogs and not enough time! So many cakes, so many loaves, so many beautiful kitchen things and so many lovely pics of your choc delights and your delightul life! My dream chocolate mmm would be milk choc with surprise centres – rather like bulging giant Revels!
Milk choc please for me to share and I’m UK!
Congratulations, how wonderful!
My dream chocolate would be anything dark and sea salty. YUM.
I’m in Australia.
Congratulations! And how wonderful your chocolates andyour gloves! How nice of you to be giving such nice gifts.
Regards from Argentina.

Congrats dear Celia! 1 million visitors already! You so deserve it too! :)Waw! That is huge news!
I really love your tasty & very original recipes. I would like the milk ginger chocolates!! I live overseas in Belgium but you knew that! :)
I just gave you an award! Yeah! http://sophiesfoodiefiles.wordpress.com/2012/10/04/vegan-breakfast-smoothy-some-awards/
Congratulations Celia!, you’re a wonderful inspiration, and the main reason I’m now a regular sourdough baker.
I love dark chocolate, around 60%, and my dream choc would probably have glace orange and roughly crushed almond or macadamia praline, though hazelnut and coffee is also fabulous, or maybe caramelised fig…..
Too many to choose from :)
Congrats again
Rebecca
Hello Celia – look at all of the joy your blog has brought to people! Incredible! Congratulations from Paris!!
huge congrats to figjam and lime cordial (neither of which i have attempted as yet). You are an inspiration. From Australia and milk chocolate with something raspberry-like is delicious. Cheers
Wow, although not a surprise that you have had soooo many visitors to your wonderful blog, love it, love it, love it!! Based in SE Queensland and love the idea of dark choc and ginger…Penny
congratulations from England. I have only just discovered your blog through Joanna’s UK blog and enjoy reading it and trying recipes. Thanks !
Congratulations on an amazing achievement Celia. Your posts are always a joy to read, even when you’re writing about something that wouldn’t normally interest me. Wishing you and all of your wonderful family the very best for the future, and long may Fig Jam and Lime Cordial continue.
Congratulations for the great news! One millionth page view WOO HOO! That’s amazing :) You have done so well ~ It is so amazing that you are able to get some chocolate handmade just for you and also send it to the lucky winners ~
My dream chocolate would have, salted caramel, pistachio and orange hahhaa I’m not sure how it will work but anything with these 3 things will make me a very happy person :D
Keep up the great work and please continue sharing those wonderful recipes!
Greetings from a recent discoverer of your blog, and felicitations on your one milion page views Celia! I am very pleased indeed to have discovered your wonderful posts.
I recently shared your Chestnut Flour Brownie, Mark 2, with chocolate piggy friends (and had to hide them from 12 donkeys and a remarkably curious peacock), and now find myself having to post regular supplies of this delight to them on the mid north coast of NSW.
My favourite chocolate? Well, the dark hazelnut praline bars look particularly shiny and glorious.
Congratulations and well done on reaching a million hits! Although it’s not surprising given your great posts and fabulous recipes. Onward to 2 million!
I’d have to say that my dream choc would probably be a nut brittle covered with milk chocolate.
My congratulations also. I’m a latecomer to the million but I’m so happy to be inspired by you, who lives in the same environs as me and does so much with it. No choccie for me, but I’ll happily continue to follow and be inspired :)
Congratulation on your 1 million views! Never had a homemade chocolate bar, so this would be lovely. Keep on blogging. <3
From Canada.
Mmmmm chocolate. I like dark ginger. If lucky enough to win, would share with a friend that loves ginger. I’m in Canada and look at your blog often. Thanks!
Thats awesome, Celia. Love that you just do it for the pleasure.. I know I missed the deadline, but I always love your Golden Ticket chocolates, as we are big Roald Dahl fans in this house!
Oh, bother.. catching up on blog reading has it’s limitations!! I’ve missed your celebration!! I guess this might make me the 1 million and 1 viewer ;) Congratulations!! I hope you had a fun day celebrating.. I love your blog.. your recipes.. and your philosophy!!
Congratulations!!
Congratulations Celia, that’s such a milestone. You have a magnificent blog and you are a lovely person so I’m not in the least bit surprised you’ve done so well. I don’t get the time to visit as often as I’d like, but I so so appreciate what you do.
