The New Spanish Table

April 28, 2014 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

A quick headsup folks!

The New Spanish Table, which retailed for US$35 when it was first released, is now available as a Kindle ebook for US$2.95 (for us Aussies – I suspect it might even be cheaper if you’re buying from the US). It’s nearly 500 pages long.

It’s an older book, so it isn’t hyperlinked as well as some of the newer cookbooks, but it does have a good index that lets you go straight to the recipe page. It reads very well on my iPad using the Kindle App, and reasonably well on my PC using the Amazon Cloud Reader (both free reading platforms). Photo above is a screenshot from my iPad.

I haven’t made anything from it yet, but I’ve really enjoyed the bits I’ve read so far, so I thought I’d pass on the info. Kindle books are often discounted for a very short time only, so it’s worth grabbing it soon if you’re interested.

PS. No affiliation with Amazon or the author!

Now that’s what I call a bargain, Celia! Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you :) What a bargain. I’m looking forward to browsing. Can never have too many cookbooks.

I have had this book for several years. It’s a great book. Everything I made was good. It’s been awhile though so I should dig it out again.

Thanks for the heads up – I was flirting with this cookbook when it was first published, but resisted. Now, I don’t have to. Just downloaded the Kindle version, hopefully I’ll have time to look at it before falling asleep tonight

    Thanks again, Celia!

Easily one of my favorite cookbooks. Lots of terrific, memorable recipes in this book.

I truly have to get my balance of life right!! ‘Cause I would so like to have!! Methinks we all know by now that the backlighting of eBooks may in the long term be the unhealthiest of all for all for us! But it would be just the cheapest and most available!! Now: at just times, at just convenient times :D ?!!

    • on April 28, 2014 at 2:16 pm Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

I’m not at all concerned about the backlighting of eBooks, Eha, any more than I’m concerned about staring at a computer screen. :) For me, apart from the price, I’m just happy not to be the cause of any more TREES having to be grown and felled to feed my love of cookbooks.

Oh Celia – I agree with you, BUT! When med professors from three reputable unis in the States where I am studying tell you to take care and there is article after well-researched article in medical papers/journals [I get 3-5 a day], my ‘brain chemistry’ has to come before my beloved trees. No they are not quite certain as to the degree, but all those in the ‘know’ are looking. Reading in bed before sleeping supposedly the worst and eBooks are supposedly way worse in their effect than the computer I have to use too much anyway :) !

Hehe..after a lifetime of dealing with doctors, I don’t trust any of them, Eha. They change their minds every ten minutes. Anyway, maybe you should get a regular Kindle, it doesn’t have any light at all, and the e-ink is very, very gentle on your eyes.

        • on April 29, 2014 at 12:35 pm Eha

Oops!! You do not trust me or mine – [giggles: really, Celia!!!!!] Yep, have thought of the regular Kindle – guess I just LOVE to hold onto a regular book when I go to bed [does not make me the Greenie I say I am :) !] But with over 3000 volumes [and more on order!!!] absolutely making every room in my cottage a ‘library’ I have to do something! OK: daily papers and most magazines are on line – hmm, cookery books . . . . perhaps have to work on that :D !!!

Just bought a copy from Amazon Aust and it cost $3.18! Thanks – will enjoy reading it and hopefully cooking something!

And the best part of it is that you don’t need to find space on the already full bookshelf! :D

Thanks for the info, Celia. That’s such a good deal! I would love to know more about Spanish cuisine so I’ll look forward to checking this out xx

Isn’t it nice when you can add a cookbook to your collection that doesn’t take up space. :)

Well darn. I should have waited!!! Love this cookbook!

Thank you, downloaded it and was salivating right away. Love that carrot tapas recipe – and ….. what a great but economical idea for a hostess gift.

Thanks, Celia. It’s downloading now and only cost $2.51 here. Such a great deal!
