This month’s IN MY KITCHEN is now closed!
Please join us again in July! ♥
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…were burgers for International Hamburger Day (28th May). We made the patties, caramelised onions, roasted capsicums, sesame seed buns and chipotle chilli mayo from scratch. The boys ate two each!
In my kitchen…
…are homegrown peanuts and macadamia nuts, a gift from Big Boy’s girlfriend. I’ve never known anyone to grow peanuts at home before! And I’ve figured out why macadamia nuts are so expensive despite the fact that they grow prolifically – it takes a couple of minutes to get each one out of its shell…
In my kitchen…
…are treasured cookbooks from my dear friend Bizzy Lizzy – the Elizabeth Chong one was published in 1982 and is particularly hard to find…
In my kitchen…
…is my birthday present to Pete. It’s a pendant made from the brass mechanisms of two 1886 pocket watches. I think it’s a work of art and I absolutely adore the idea of upcycling 130 year old cogs and wheels into something of great beauty…
It was meticulously handcrafted by the lovely Juan, who sells his pieces at markets around Sydney (we met him at Paddington Markets) as well as from his workshop in Darlinghurst. More information on their company Time Flies Designs can be found here.
My cousin Lynette bought this stunning and unusual pendant. It’s made from a combination of 1950s watch mechanisms and all the parts move…
In my kitchen…
…is a new 22 litre covered tub and a metre of couche cloth (baker’s linen) from Chefs’ Warehouse. I have four and a half kilos of high hydration sourdough proving in the tub as I type…
In my kitchen…
…are delicious gifts from the gorgeous Amanda of Lambs’ Ears and Honey…
In my kitchen…
…is a surprise treat from Vicki of Boiled Eggs and Soldiers – some seasoned salt made with the Buddha’s Hand citrus she blogged about in her last IMK post. And yes, chocolate is salad…
In my kitchen…
…is bread and butter pudding. It’s made with leftover fruit loaf and regular sourdough. I cut off the crusts, buttered the slices, then layered them into a greased pie dish and soaked them in a mix of milk, eggs, sugar, golden syrup and Calvados brandy. The perfect winter way to use up stale bread…
In my kitchen…
…there is always Shao Xing cooking wine. It’s ridiculously cheap – under $2 a bottle at the Flemington shops. Did you know that it’s salted? Apparently that’s to ensure it’s used for cooking and not drinking, thereby avoiding alcohol tax…
In my kitchen…
…was a large bag of Italian prosciutto pieces. I turned some of it into a prosciutto, cheddar and fig focaccia and sent half the loaf to my friend Johnny, gifter of the offcuts…
Pete used another piece in this incredibly simple, very tasty pasta…
. . . . .

Celia, that hamburger looks totally delicious.
I have only ever seen peanuts grown once. It was in a canal. Do they need lots of water? I can’t believe you make 4.5 kilos of bread at once. It takes us a fortnight to eat 1.5 kilos.
Anyway, here is my post. All the very best for the month. G
http://passionfruitgarden.com/2015/05/31/in-my-kitchen-june-2015/
Glenda, I *think* Sus’ parents just planted them in the dirt and then harvested them months later. They have extremely green thumbs though – they’d even give you a run for your money! :)
I like the idea of in my kitchen and I will check out the details. Your focaccia looks fantastic, a winner for sure. Happy eating
Gerlinde
Thanks Gerlinde! The focaccia was very popular! :)
Loads of goodies in your kitchen this month. Fresh nuts! The pendants are beautiful. Pete’s pasta looks delicious, you should post the recipe, I’d love to make it.
I wish I’d taken note! :) From memory it was oven dried tomatoes (from a jar), a tin of really good Italian tomatoes, and finely chopped speck, which had been fried well to release all the fat (which is where the flavour is).
Your kitchen is as gifted as you! Love all the special items you have from friends- and all the bread related dishes. The bread and butter pudding would be an all year delight here. And the pendants are lovely- are there any moving parts?
Hello my lovely friend, how have you been? And yes, both the pendants can wind up and move a bit!
Oh that pasta is soooo lovely! Happy June to you!
And to you, Misky! xxx
I love how your gifted prosciutto bounced back into a focaccia gift. :-) You are so awesome. I made sourdough french toast yesterday. It was pretty good. Trying to figure out what to make for dinner. Hugs all around, Maz.
We can never just take, right Maz? :) And Johnny is always so generous, it’s a joy to feed him something made with his own products! I’m so glad the bread baking is still going strong at your house!
Fantastic the jewelry made with the mechanism of the watch, made a bit sad to remember my Dad, who had a beauty of a watch in his pocket all the time.
bittersweet memories, I wish he was still alive…
I won’t be able to join the party this month, but I’m shooting for a July tour of our kitchen!
Sally, it was a truly lovely piece – maybe you could have your dad’s watch made into a pendant so you could wear it? Have a great June lovely!
I LOVE that stale bread book! As a kid I used to hide in my wardrobe with a few crusts of bread and a bottle of water and pretend that I was in jail. Seems like my idea of jail was a lot different to the realities. I would have at least had a telly in there with me for accuracies sake ;)
That’s so funny – you probably lasted at least half an hour before getting fed up and letting yourself out of jail!
I ate my bread first, can’t be wasting good stale bread Ms Chica ;)
Fran, you’re hilarious!! :)
Chipotle chilli may, sounds fantastic – I love all things spicy. I hope to join in IMK later, but its always good to see what’s in your kitchen. MMmm chocolate is a salad – interesting!
Hi Celia, Here is the link to my entry http://allotment2kitchen.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/june-in-my-kitchen.html
Shaheen, we always keep a stash of chipotle chillis in adobo – they come in small tins. The whole family loves them! :)
I was looking for a photo of a burger recently to use in a lecture but gave up due to the copyright issues – I ended up drawing my own in ppt – but I have to say, your picture is gorgeous!
Thank you! I’d love to think you were actually giving a lecture on hamburgers.. :)
Ah we dream :) but surprisingly not! could not be further away from the humble hamburger! All about consistency – or lack of it …
Hello darling Celia, is it June already! OMG. Well, another fabulous IMK round up from you… how about those home grown peanuts and macadamias! Wow. That Shao Xing sounds interesting… I love having a bottle of that in my larder. Love the baker’s linen and all that wonderful dough… I so miss playing with dough (hopefully this LPR will heal!). And finally, thank you for the lovely shout out… and more importantly, I hope you are enjoying those books, especially the one by Elizabeth Chong xox
Lovely Lizzy, I’ve really enjoyed both of them, thank you again for thinking of me! I hope the LPR passes soon – I’m a tad distressed at the idea of you only having broth for dinner!
Interesting things in your kitchen as always! What are you planning on making with so much sourdough?! I’ve never heard of bakers linen. What is it used for?
Manuela, the bakers linen is for proving shaped dough on – I’m yet to give it a go. Apparently it holds the shape better than the dodgy old tea towels I’ve been using.. :)
I love popping into your kitchen at the start of each month! Only 2 burgers each? I could have managed 3 ;) Love the pendant for Pete (and birthday greetings to him), really original and unusual. So…. four and a half kilos of sourdough – are you going into army catering, or is it a party, or just you being hugely organised and baking a HUGE batch? Am intrigued!
T, the burgers were pretty substantial! I only managed one! :) Hope you’re enjoying the warm weather in Spain!
Soaking up the last few days of sunshine!
Your kitchen always looks so inviting and well-read and now stylish. Katherine loves old watches.
Thanks Greg! Katherine would love Juan’s pieces, they’re beautifully made!
Cocoa is also therapeutic and medicinal. So there. No debate required. Nice looking things IYK Celia. I’m slowly putting together a post and hope springs eternal it will be ready soon! xx
Ardys, thanks for confirming that for me. From now on, chocolate is medicinal salad! :) xx
You and Johnny have a good thing going. I bet he loves getting half of your tasty foccaccia. The big tub of hydrated sourdough!! That’s serious baking. And as for Juan, yes his craft is beautiful, but he is rather distracting too.
Ha! Yes, we do. Johnny’s a very generous man, so it’s a joy to be able to return the favour just a little bit.
The burgers look fantastic, I can see why the boys ate two! I,always tease my husband that we should grow peanuts, we eat so many. I just bought macadamia nuts today, homegrown would have been even better. The focaccia looks fantastic. Another busy month in your kitchen as always.
Gretchen, homegrown maccies have to be taken out of their shell. It’s hard work! :)
And that is why we pay so much for them! So worth it though.
The reconstructed watch art is fabulous and that’s the best looking burger i’ve seen in many a long day! Homegrown peanuts sound amazing. Thanks for the peek into your kitchen Celia
Here’s the link to my post for June http://wp.me/p2frs2-1V1
Tanks Celia
Thanks Sandra! It was extra fun to put this month’s post together! :)
Celia, I just love that wonderful jewelery – very steam punk! I can’t wait to hear what you are doing with 4 1/2 kilos of sourdough – looks like the oven will be cranked!
Amanda, it turned into five loaves that were shared – it was all gone two days later! :)
Oh I think I’m going to have to schedule a late personal International Hamburger Day. And my goodness, 4 and 1/2 kgs of sourdough… nothing succeeds like excess!
Happy Birthday to Pete :)
Thanks ED! I think every Friday should be hamburger day! :)
Celia I bought a big bag of macadamias in their shell a while ago, thought they would be nice for the grandson and I to crack while we played board games. I felt quite smug as I got them at the markets for not much money. It took us months to eat them as getting them open became a game of its own. That will teach me for feeling smug. Happy Birthday to Pete and always your posts light my day.
Madge, you made me laugh – aren’t they a bugger to get out of their shells! It’s taken forever and we *still* have a basket of them on the dining room table.
So many lovely things. I love the time pieces. And how lovely to be given the proscuitto pieces. How satisfying to enjoy a burger with so many homemade ingredients. I didn’t know that about the Chinese wine! xx
Charlie, thank you! The prosciutto is a joy to receive – I often send photos to Johnny of the meals he’s provided us with! :)
You’ve taken bread making to a whole new level there – 4.5kgs? Seriously the focaccia with cheese, fig and proscuitto had me drooling. And I never knew there was salt in the Chinese wine either – you’re always a font of knowledge.
My IMK is up now too http://www.plusatesix.com/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-june-2015/
Nancy, could you imagine proving 4.5kg of dough in your bathtub? :)
[…] the first day of every month Celia, from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial, hosts a blogging event, In My Kitchen. This is a remarkable event for many reasons. In My Kitchen […]
This must be one of my favourite IMK’s of yours – and always out on time :) ! Absolutely love Juan’s pendants and have looked up the link already!!! And would so like to own the Elizabeth Chong book!! And tho’ I normally avoid all hamburgers because of the buns . . . the contents of yours have made me go check on my lunch cooking . . . they do look so good!!!
Thanks Eha! Juan’s pendants are absolutely stunning! :)
That hamburger! It looks amazing and sounds delicious. I love bread and butter pudding – I really want to try yours!
Those pendants are beautiful. It is great to see upcycling done well!
Maggie, that’s so true, sometimes upcycling can lead to tragic results. Not in this case though! :)
I love ‘popping’ into your kitchen Celia! Always filled with wonderful splendid things to use, to eat, to cook to look at! We are lovers of historical pieces too! And what will you be doing with all that Sourdough I’d like to know? When you invite us in, you’re going to expect questions! hahahaha! Have a great day Celia.xx
Lina, as you know, I had SO many questions about the sourdough that I wrote a whole post on it! :D
So I always buy my rice wine from a small shop in Lakemba – and I must look slightly desperate because the lady there tells me every time ‘not for drinking’. About 5 times. 😃
Claire, that’s hilarious!! Maybe it’s because you’re buying it in case lots.. ;-)
As always, another interesting imk post. It’s a great idea to do this every month. Why does everything you cook look so tasty:)
Thanks Jo! That’s because I don’t put up photos of all the stuff that doesn’t work! :D
Your focaccia looks amazing Celia. You are my bread making guru. I also love your cookbooks. Elizabeth Chong is a legend.
Here’s my IMK post for this month.
http://milk-and.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-june-2015.html
Thanks Jennifer! Elizabeth Chong was the grandmother of Chinese cooking in Australia!
I love those time pieces, they are so beautiful! And I’d love to grow my own macadamias nuts, how cool 😀
4.5kgs of sourdough??? That sounds huge!
Happy June ☺️☺️ Have a great day and week xxxxx
If we’d been there together, we’d have bought out Juan’s stall, Elaine! :)
I think so!!!!
I love that you had burgers made completely from scratch. Those pendants are brilliant too – what a great example of upcycling made very beautiful.
I’ve just linked up my post at http://www.bitesizedthoughts.com/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-june-2015.html :)
Kari, I hope London is giving you sunny weather – it’s COLD here! And thank you, the burgers were a treat!
How many people are you catering for with all that sourdough? Good job you don’t knead or you’d look like Popeye by the end.
Many. It was bread for the masses. And thank you for the Popeye warning.. ;-)
I want one of those burgers! I keep scrolling back to look at it. The pendants are really clever.
I should make a bread pudding tonight. I’ve got everything and it’s such a comforting dessert.
Maureen, you should make burgers! And then invite all the old folks from the nursing home over to eat them! :)
[…] to Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial for hosting her In My Kitchen series […]
You had me at the burger Celia and absolutely LOVE Pete’s birthday watch! How awesomely unique!
I’d love a slice of your focaccia right now!
Thanks for hosting the IMK series as my blog post is now live too!
http://whatsonthelist.net/2015/06/01/kitchen-recipes-baking-cooking-june-whatsonthelist/
Thanks Joanne! Hope you’re having a fabulous June!
I like those hamburgers.. V yummy. I have a request for Christmas in July ideas if you have any over the next couple of months.. :)
Paula, isn’t Christmas in July just like Christmas at Christmas? :) Only with hotter food, I guess… ;-) Actually, from memory, I think Lorraine over at Not Quite Nigella does Christmas in July every year, they’ll be posts with lots of recipes in her archives!
So many wonderful things in your kitchen Celia. I would be petrified to proof SO much dough and I absolutely adore your present for Pete’s birthday!
Have a beautiful day.
:-) Mandy xo
PS. So sorry, I forgot to tell you I did my IMK post this morning. x
Thanks lovely Mandy! Proving the huge batch of dough wasn’t the least bit scary because of the giant tub. Turning it all out onto the bench was a different matter.. ;-)
I am salivating over those burgers and the gift is amazing! I am looking for baker’s linen here :)
Tandy, I haven’t tried mine yet, will let you know how it goes!
Wonderful wonderful…all of it. That drool-worthy burger looks amazing…and I’m not usually a big burger gal, but this one has me swooning…as for the time master Juan and those wonderful pieces……I agree, Francesca. Quite delightfully distracting. Fig, prosciutto and cheese focaccia? Yes please! Great story about the rice wine….The big sourdough batch has me intrigued….tell us more, Celia! :-)
Jaqi, you and Francesca need to behave (but yes, he is a lovely young man). ;-)
[…] month Celia over at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial hosts the In My Kitchen theme, bloggers from around the globe join in and showcase their kitchen treasures. Why not join […]
The burger looks so delicious and all homemade including the sesame buns. Four kilos of sourdough proving… are you feeding an army Celia :) Beautiful and unusual pendants… Pete must be very happy. I guess no cracking the shell of macadamia nuts with your teeth then.
Moya, Pete had a fabulous story when he was young – a group of them (then 10yos) tried to crack maccies on the concrete floor of a garage with a hammer. The nuts flew around the room like bullets and everyone ended up with bruises!
Oh my, I could hardly get past that burger – and I’m not a real burger freak, as they say! Fun post!
Thanks Mimi! The burgers were grand!
Between the burger and the focaccia I can’t quite decide which looks more delicious! 😆
Thank you! You’ll be pleased to know that the burgers were washed down with Bollie! :D
Superb pairing!
Oh snap Celia on the macadamias! They feature in my kitchen this month too from a recent trip to family in Queensland. I think I have the cracking technique down pat now.
Such lovely craftsmanship on the pendants.
Cheers, Kirsty
http://makeitbakeitsnapit.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-june-2015.html
Kirsty, they take SO long to get out of the shells! They’re nice, but I’m just not convinced they’re worth the effort. No wonder folks with maccie trees can’t give the nuts away fast enough.. ;-)
Fabulous post and love the concept of In My Kitchen…I hope to write up one soon and post it…cheers:))
Cool! Thanks for stopping by!
Love the burgers but am really jazzed over the repurposed watch art. Celia, you have such a lively. Interesting kitchen.
We stayed in port long enough this morning for me to make sure my IMK post went live and link up – now we’re off to view Petersburg’s LeConte Glacier. Happy June!
Dee, isn’t the pendant something else? I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. Perfect gift for Pete, although I may well end up wearing it! :)

Celia, I wish I could tuck into your bread pudding right now — or your focaccia — or Pete’s pasta — or that BURGER. Oh my goodness they look delicious! The vintage watch pendants are treasures, as is your 1982 cookbook, and any chutney made with chipotle peppers named “Lust” is huge in my book. I also loved your large scale batch of bread brewing! Thank you for a delightful read, and for confirming that chocolate is a salad, too. :)
P.S. My post is up & runnin’, xo.
Hello my darling friend, I’m so looking forward to peeking into your still new kitchen! xxx
[…] just flown by and a new month is upon us already. So welcome to my June kitchen. I am linking with Celia and all fellow bloggers to welcome you to my kitchen and show you around. Pleased to have you over […]
Darling Celia, you are making me crave winter comforts! I have fresh strawberries straight from the field and would love to say it’s summer over here in the UK but we all shivering with cold to the point of having to turn the heating on or light the fire… Thanks for virtually warming me up xx
http://www.milktoastandhoney.co.uk/in-my-kitchen-june-2015/
Ania, that’s not right – we’re cold here, so surely it has to be warm on the other side of the world? :) Hope it warms up properly for you soon!
Your hamburger with chipotle mayo looks and sounds delicious! The pendants made from watches are gorgeous.
Thank you! The burgers were a huge hit!
Great burger Celia! And those pendants are wonderful. I can’t wait to see the bread creations that begin in the ‘tub’.
Bernie, five loaves of bread! :) I wrote about it here:
https://figjamandlimecordial.com/2015/06/03/four-and-a-half-kilos-of-sourdough/
Growing peanuts at home – that’s dedication. 4 ½ kilos of sourdough – wow, just wow! Now, if I could only find someone to gift me offcuts of prosciutto…
Always interesting to see what happening. xxx
Fi, I’ll add it to the list for when you come to Sydney. 1. Take Fi’s husband to fossil shop. 2. Share offcuts. :)
I can’t believe that it is June. What beautiful pieces that man is creating. I think I might have to head up to Sydney to check him out. Hope that you have a wonderful month! Here is my month’s blog post: http://goodfoodweek.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/life-whats-in-my-kitchen.html
Shari, he’s at Paddington Markets most weekends, but not today. And yes, hard to believe it’s June already!
Wonderful post, Celia! Love, love, love that pendant. I am a sucker for anything Victoriana. You found a real “gem” of a craftsperson! What a monster focaccia you made. Missed International hamburger day, but fully intend to make your sesame seed buns. Hamburgers also sound pretty good.
Debi, I’m so glad everyone likes the pendant – I fell in love with it instantly! :)
Those pendants are really beautiful – I can imagine it is very relaxing to sit and look at all the details. Love your bread and butter pudding and your gifts – I am amazed at all your sourdough starter in that tub – you must be baking a lot of bread!
Johanna, I’m feeding quite a few people. Plus it’s fun to bake a huge batch occasionally!
oops – here is my IMK post – http://gggiraffe.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-june-2015.html
How did I miss hamburgular day?
Maybe you could do a belated one, Paul? :)
I love those lovely timepiece treasures. Happy birthday Pete!
I’m a big nut fan but admit I don’t have the patience to grow my own. Growing up, I had a friend who had a magnificent macadamia tree, and his mother used to make jars and jars of macadamia butter from it. Only now I realise how much love went into those jars!
That burger looks just beautiful. I can see how the boys ate two each!!
The chipotle chutney sounds amazing, and I love the little tidbit about salted cooking wine to avoid alcohol taxing. I learn something every day!
My post is up and running here: http://www.withafork.com/2015/06/whats-in-my-kitchen-june-2015.html
Lisa, I’ve never known anyone else to grow their own peanuts, I thought it was amazing! And yes, it would have taken forever to crack enough maccies to make jars of butter from them!
I’m so glad you got a nice surprise with the salt. You had me in straight away with that burger, I’m craving one now! Your foccacia looks delicious too – I haven’t made sour dough yet but have foccacia and you’ve just inspired me to make one like yours. I’m in awe of the 4.5 kgs of sourdough!
I really look forward to IMK each month – here is my contribution & thank you for hosting http://www.boiledeggsandsoldiers.com/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-june-2015/
Vicki, thank you again! We haven’t used it yet, but I’ve been opening it up regularly for everyone to have a sniff. It’s amazingly citrussy!
Oh Celia.. Pete’ comment about you turning into the street’s grand ma got me chuckling… so funny.. actually something my ex would say about me… especially when I was trying to knit… How funny men can be! Your burgers look ammmazing and I am someone who does not eat meat. The buns and all trmmings would be delicious on a vegetarian or hallumi burger. Yum
Lara, it’s just SO true, I really am turning into an old woman! I think a halloumi burger sounds amazing! :)
Your kitchen holds a touch of nostalgia for me Celia. My dad grew his own peanuts when I was small. I can still remember the day he dug them up and we ate them. Bread & butter pudding was a staple winter dessert in my childhood, although I always dug out the sultanas as I couldn’t stand them (still can’t). I absolutely love that everything in your burger was homemade. Awesome!
My IMK post is now up. http://thecookspyjamas.com/in-my-kitchen-june-2015/
Tania, how did you cook the peanuts? We’re thinking of roasting ours – still haven’t done anything with them!
I don’t know what I could have been doing to miss International Hamburger Day … but I’m sorry I did! Your burgers are making my mouth water, so now I’ve got to light the grill and get with it.
You have so much to cherish and enliven the senses in your kitchen. What a blessing. :)
Judy, I’m sure you could celebrate a belated International Burger day! And yes, I’m always feeling very blessed!

That hamburger rocks! The caramalized onions sure do make it.
You’ve got some great things in your kitchen this month but I am absolutely in love with that pendant made from the pocket watches. You are right about it being a work of art. I love things like that and now I’m thinking of something I might do with an old watch that was my mother’s.
Macadamia nuts – my absolute favorites but those shells! I once bought some in the shell & realized that it was worth spending the extra money for already cracked nuts.
And I’ve taken a wedding project break to come up with an IMK post this month (I’m doing a happy dance that I figured out Photoshop enough to come up with the table numbers…okay, maybe I’ll re-work some but if push comes to shove, I can use what I have & just hope everyone really enjoys the cocktail hour to not notice any flaws).
Thanks again for hosting IMK. You put a lot of effort in to bring people together.

Hooray! We’ve missed you, but we all know how hectic everything is at the moment. I’ll join you for a virtual cup of coffee soon, looking forward to reading your post! :)
I might not be posting much but have been enjoying keeping up with you – you’ve been a pretty busy lady yourself with some very fun things.
As always, a great lot of things happening in your kitchen!! I love the look of those burgers – get your laughing gear around them!!!! That pendant is superb, I bet he loves it.
Again, thanks for hosting this wonderful series.

Jan, get your laughing gear around them – it’s been so long since I’ve heard that expression! Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning! :)

Loving your new tub for sourdough proving Celia – you’re definitely the sourdough queen! How good is a burger – any beetroot, pineapple and egg? An Elizabeth Chong cookbook – awesome! Shaoxing (Chinese rice) wine is a staple in my pantry. Love foccacias too – yours looks delicious (maybe a recipe coming soon?!) ;) Thanks for a wonderful party Celia xx

Morning Nic, how lovely to chat to you! And no, I might be Aussie, but I’m not a huge fan of beetroot or pineapple on my burger. Well, only if it’s one that’s bought from the Greek takeaway by the beach.. :)
Sooo much happening in the way of food goodness here as usual!
Here is my post for IMK this month http://chantillefleur.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/in-my-home-dairy-kitchen-june-2015.html
Thank-you! x
Everything looks so very delicious! My Erik came back from the arboretum with a seed for a nut tree. He is trying very hard to make it grow, as he was convinced we would not have to buy nuts from the store if he was to succeed! What a sweetheart! Maybe I’ll have to but your idea of making bread pudding to use. It has been years since I have made it last and it would be the perfect way to use up old bread!
After a two month break in IMK, I got my post done for June! Hooray, so happy to be back :) The past couple of months I was a bit late starting and so did not make the deadline…but that’s life and fortunately there is always next month.
Kudos for celebrating a food holiday – I never remember to connect to these and I know there’s one nearly every day. The stale bread cookbook is a good idea and a reminder that not everything concept needs to be fancy to be successful. Your bread pudding looks like a case in point. Here’s my post for the month. Thanks, always, for hosting IMK!

Hi Annie, you’re welcome. Have you written a post this month? Could you please send me the link if you have, and I’ll add it to the list. The link in your profile isn’t working. Thanks, Celia
Sorry, yes. The link is http://www.anniecholewa.com/2015/06/fennel-and-daisies-in-my-kitchen.html

I so love reading your posts, here’s mine for the month http://atravellingcook.com/2015/06/in-my-kitchen-this-month-3.html
Can we talk more about bread and butter pudding? Sigh ;D I love macadamia’s but they are a bugger to crack – even with one of the proper screw down mac crackers! A tip – make sure the nut rattles in the shell before you crack it or it’s impossible to get out, if they don’t rattle let them dry longer! x

Hi Celia, those hamburgers look great, and the focaccia too! Love using Shao Xing for marinades it adds great flavor and does a great job tenderizing. It’s funny that you mention about peanuts because we actually just planted some last week, we figured we give them a try.

I just love it that you have 4 1/2 litres of sourdough in your kitchen Celia. The jewellery is a great idea and beautiful too. I’m not sure about chocolate being a salad, but I KNOW it’s good for you :)
I actually managed it this month, here’s my IMK – http://tinandthyme.uk/2015/06/in-my-kitchen/

What a delicious round-up as always, Celia. Hamburgers with every element made from scratch is no mean feat. As for the macadamias, what are you using to open them? I have a special gadget that cracks them open in no time. I once tasted macadamias that had been picked the same morning and couldn’t believe how amazing they tasted compared with the shop-bought product.
