International Scone Week 2015

August 13, 2015 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

Your very kind comments on my last post gave us all great comfort. Thank you. ♥

. . . . .

Folks, it’s International Scone Week!

Here is my simple contribution for 2015 – Small Man’s favourite buttermilk scones. He’s in the middle of a HSC trial exam today, and has told me he’s really looking forward to these when he gets home…

International Scone Week is now hosted by the lovely Tandy of Lavender and Lime. Please see her post on how to join in and check out all the wonderful scones baked so far!

I can imagine the pleasure Small Man had when coming home to a plate of these. I hope his exams go well for him.

A – morning tea is on the way. And I’ll be taking inspiration from my grandmother who was a dreadful cook, but knew how to turn out scones!

Is there anything nicer than a good scone?! Perhaps… but they are certainly up there… we had so many in the UK, goodness! Take care darling one xx

There’s nothing like a warm scone in the morning , or morning tea, or lunch or afternoon or dinner or a late night snack…. ( oh what? All finished??.. I’ll have to make some more in the morning… Hehe)

Small home comforts and routines like baking and eating together help us through the tough times in a small way. Good luck to him with the exams – it’s results day today for the 18 year olds in our life, waiting to see if they have the grades to go to their choice of Uni. Love to you all x

I’m all ready for a scone cooking weekend and am very excited too as its my first attempt at baking them. Hope Small Man was okay with HSC Trials too. I’m sure he was delighted to have your scones as an after school treat. Take care and go gently and as I bake I’m sending out loving thoughts for all our cherished ones that cannot be with us.

Celia, these scones would definitely be something to look forward to — they look fabulous! Yesterday during a “virtual tea break” with some friends in the UK I mentioned that it’s International Scone Week and they were delighted to hear it. (Shared your link in their G+ hangout comment section.) Happy scone making and eating, and continued hugs to you & yours! xo

Definitely something to look forward to coming home to. After our pumpkin scones the other day I get the feeling my boys would look forward to coming home to scones after school which FINALLY starts again next Wednesday!

I’m sure small man will thoroughly enjoy those Celia. I will make some for The Management, who also enjoys a scone or two, for Scone Week.

They look so yummy. How fabulous to walk out of an exam and know that there is a baked-with-love-treat waiting. I hope the trials bring Small Man some comfort for the real deal :)
