In my kitchen…
…is a double batch of our high hydration sourdough, shaped into boules and ciabattas. I bake all the loaves in my enamel roasters…

In my kitchen…
…was a quarter turkey Römertopf roast, with stale sourdough stuffing. This quantity is always more than enough to feed our family…
The following day, my clever hubby turned the leftovers – including the stuffing and the cranberry sauce – into a delicious pasta dinner…

In my kitchen…

In my kitchen…

In my kitchen…

Charlie from Hotly Spiced put me on to this company a couple of years ago. Serendipitously, owner Deborah used to live in our neighbourhood!
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really not very girly, but I find Deb’s products excellent, and I use them daily. They don’t make my skin feel icky like a lot of the big name brands do…

In my kitchen…
…was a Römertopf roast duck. I’m always so chuffed with the duck fat and concentrated stock leftover – I stash them in the fridge and freezer for later meals…

Tell me, what’s happening in your kitchen?
Celia, your bread creations are enticing — your hubby’s “re-make” too! Loved your gently made shortbread description. :)
I have just spent a most enjoyable few days reading through the entire Fig Jam and Lime Cordial archive! Your blog is just lovely Celia – simultaneously soothing, warm, salivation-inducing and uplifting. Hugs from New Zealand! xx
Thanks for stopping by, Maddy! :)
I haven’t had my breakfast yet and all the inticing food pictures are making me hungry! Lol Delicious looking things in your kitchen. The cactus creams look interesting. I have to dust off my sewing machine…once I am done with all the outdoor things and canning.
At the moment I have dill pickles in my kitchen. Will be making tomato soup to can this week and getting the greenhouse ready for winter; if the rain stops long enough. ☺
Have a lovely September!
O M G – you have seriously had some great things in your kitchen. I really want to be into baking my own bread – as I know that as the boys get older {and I have another baby} our grocery bill is going to get bigger and bigger. That chicken and the duck…yum, yum, yum.
I miss posting my link up here and seeing what everyone else has had in their kitchen for the month.

Well yes to that duck fat! But I need to know, did you buy a 1/4 Turkey or, did you buy a whole turkey and cut it into quarters and therefore have three other 1/4s sitting in your cavernous freezer? : )
I bought TWO whole turkeys and cut them into eight and kept 7 x 1/4s in my cavernous freezer. You should have seen us cutting them – it was a true Mr Bean moment. :D
Your breads and pasta remind me how wonderful home cooking can be- using lovely leftover and storing treasures for later use. I think I’m ready to return. The little glasses cases look great too.
Suffering from a slight amount of envy from your beautifully clarified duck fat – and thinking about potatoes.
That stuffed sourdough roll is to die for. Have you ever tried Italian sweet provola (or original provolone which has a bit of a kick) – they would work very nicely in there
Lots of lovely food – I am particularly inspired by the stuffed loaves – that is something I need to try! Maybe this summer! And I would love a kitchen of home made chocolate and shortbread!
Celia – you have some fabulous personal food items on show as usual . . . but, having been part of the ‘sustainability’ effort in the world for decades, I do hope readers do click on your links re ‘Choice’ and tuna . . . perhaps some would change their ‘choices’ . .
Perfect Celia, Terry and I were just discussing putting some delicious meat and cheese into stuffed rolls recently x
Since I’ve just retuned from working out at the gym and haven’t eaten yet your stuffed roll is screaming at me and has my stomach growling rather loudly. I’ve been thinking about getting a turkey recently, our family could certainly put a dent in one!
Your homemade bread always looks so amazing and I am very much liking the idea of stuffed picnic bread too.
As usual not many idle moments in your life Celia.
Lots of lovely busy goings on! I now have an enamel roaster (just the one for the moment) that I have started using for my bread and it really works so well!
I am loving the pasta dish Pete made with the leftovers, Celia. And that duck fat, oh my! xxx
Great idea to cook a duck in the Romertopf, I shall try it. I’m envious of the duck fat. You always have such lovely things going on in your kitchen.
I am also sending my hook up, I hope Maureen is ok.

Yes, so delicious, all of these things please. Also, I love it when I manage to save the fat from my roasts, it makes me feel like a proper cook :) that duck fat looks so clear and smooth, it will make some excellent roast potatoes!
Thank you for sharing Celia. I really need to get my romy back into rotation.
Always a pleasure to see what you’ve been up to Celia.
Celia you always have the most amazing bread in your kitchen and I know if I had all that bread around I would have to do more than 10,000 steps :) I love duck fat too and use it for roast potatoes.
Your sourdough are amazing, I can only imagine how tasty they must be. I have put my starter on hiatus because of the heat and humidity we have been experiencing. Once the fall weather comes, I’ll make bread again!
This bread looks amazing!!! You were busy in your kitchen! I love your sewing also! well done! xx cathy
Love how your DH thinks, Celia. Have leftovers? Make pasta! I do it all of the time. Your bread baking skills are just incredible. That stuffed roll is calling me. I need to get to my Italian market tomorrow!
Always the best goodies in your kitchen! I am going to pop my link http://www.cookswithevie.com in here as well. I hope Maureen is doing well, does anyone know how she is doing?
Pasta and leftovers go together so beautifully don’t they!! Your dark chocolate and shortbread both look amazing (I have a well known weakness for shortbread but cannot make it to save myself!) x
