In my kitchen…
…is a gorgeous gift from my darling friend Kavey in London. She’s just started pottery making classes and sent me one of her first creations – this lovely wee elephant plate…
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…are fresh chorizos from Black Forest Smokehouse in Marrickville. Richard needs a day’s notice to make these to order. They’re wickedly good…
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…is a ribollita (Tuscan bean soup) flavoured arroz caldoso. With thanks to my friends Chicago John and Chica Tanya for the joint inspiration…
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…is Priscilla, showing off her impressive cleavage…
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…are Singapore orchids. I couldn’t resist them at $2 a stem and they’ve lasted well over two weeks…
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…is Karen the Owl, the latest of our rescued sock creations (instructions are here)..
. . . . .
In my kitchen…
…is our first attempt at Korean chagae – kimchi and pork stew – following a recipe from Adam Liaw’s cookbook. The boys loved it!
. . . . .
Finally, in my kitchen…
…is our little Lego charger cord holder. I admit to blatantly pinching the idea from an internet list I read. The backboard is held up with Blutack and the minifigure came from a garage set. It was nice to have a use for our twenty year old Lego…
. . . . .
Tell me, what’s happening in your kitchen?
If you’d like to write an In My Kitchen post, please do so by the 10th November and send your link to Liz of Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things. Thanks for hosting Liz! x
These monthly posts of yours always make me smile! That elephant plate is so beautiful. What a talented pal you have 😀
What a darling plate!
I just want to click like/love on all your kitchen goodies this month!
There’s not much happening in my kitchen. I have just shut down Casa Debbio for the winter. Tomorrow I leave Ponte a Serraglio and start the long trek home to Brisbane. I will need a delicious mango as my reward when I arrive.
Lovely things as always! The plate is beautiful. Karen the owl is so cute! Your lego cord holder is pretty cool. Unfortunately I don’t think my boys will part with any of their lego figures or lego for that matter. Lol But I love the idea. Maybe one of my boys can come up with a substitute. The flowers are gorgeous.
Love the Lego charger cord holder. I shall have to pinch the idea.
Are there instructions for the owl or did you make it up? Adorable!
Ooh yes there are, thanks, I’ll add a link to the post. Here it is:

I love the rescue sock creations. I have so many hand knitted socks from my mom that need some tender loving care.
That elephant plate is superb; wonderful to have a wonderful pottery making friend. Glad it made the journey to Australia intact. Lego cord holder/organiser made me smile. I have to say mine look like boring blobs stuck to my desk top like lumps of chewing gum compared to your little guy. Might be time for a style upgrade!
Loving the sock toys. Any more in the works? Cooking lots of vegetable soups here and experimenting with different kinds of hummus, red pepper, edamame… also, filtered water really helped with my last batch of sourdough. Aces! Happy Halloween, Maz.
Lucky you to have one of Kavey’s lovely pieces of pottery. They’re so lovely. GG
I wish I had cleavage as impressive as Priscilla’s!
Always so many wonderful things to share with us all Celia.
Have a beautiful day. xo
Love the owl too Celia. What great gifts! Your kitchen is always so much more interesting than mine and Priscilla is putting on a busty show. Have a great week. Sending love
Love the desirable cleavage you get on your sourdoughs Celia. Must get myself a sharper thing I can handle. And the bowl with elephant- how gorgeous. Another sock creation too. Those socks have unleashed a creative monster.
Wow, that IS a most impressive cleavage that Priscilla is showing off, Celia. Oh, those sprays of orchid! Magnificent. I love the owl too, and that ribollita. That’s our kind of soup. Happy November darling friend XXX
The plate with the elephant is so pretty! And I really like the idea of the lego cord holder too :D
In my kitchen there is right now a mess and a pile of dirty dishes :/
I adore your elephant plate & Karen is very sweet. Have a great month! xxx
I love the sound of the kim chi and pork stew but those chorizos? Aye carumba! So if I can just check – you’re doing mini purses, sock animals and Lego cord holders for Christmas ; ) Happy IMK Celia.
Hahaha! You know me too well! I’m holding your umbrella hostage until you come back and visit me.. :)
Oh, I’ll be back. Just not until early next year.
That little plate is so cute! What a lovely gift.
Priscilla makes the most impressive loaves.
I always love seeing the happenings of your kitchen Celia – thank-you!
Oh sugar: cannot see past the ‘Smokehouse’ and see I very enthusiastically already commented 2 1/2 years back :) ! Well, they very obviously do good enough business without cards or being on line – boo hoo: buddies, it is only 100 + kms south :( !!!! Those chorizos would travel well on the overland A Post!!!! And I do love Karen the Owl . . .
I tried leaving a comment earlier but WordPress seems to have something against me at the moment haha!
That little plate is beautiful – what a precious gift!
Priscilla always makes such gorgeous loaves.
I love seeing your kitchen happenings – thank-you!
Kavey is a very talented lady and that elephant bowl is just so sweet. I may have to treat myself to one of her creations! I do love the sock owl and thanks for the link on how to make it, its makes a nice change from sock monkeys
Those socks are a crack up! I can see sock critters on every hospital auxiliary fundraising table I think. Love Kavey’s plate, how nice she shared it.:)
You always seem to fit so much into your days Celia. I’ve got to thank you once again, for your sourdough tutorials. Tried the high hydration loaf on the weekend and it worked perfectly. Thank you, you have made me so ridiculously happy I had to show off my loaf on my blog and put a link back to your tutorial. Anyone who is serious about perfecting their loaf will get the best guidance right there. :)
Sally, thank you for doing that! I’m so glad the tutorial worked for you!
That lego piece is such a cool idea – I think I now need one. Love your elephant plate and Priscilla’s cleavage!
All very impressive Celia, and I really want an owl! (my mum would be telling me ‘ I want never gets!’ if she saw that!)
Priscilla is looking gorgeous and well endowed! The plate is gorgeous, wish I had that kind of talent. My boys would roll over laughing if they saw me use one of their Legos as a charging station, might be worth trying! Maybe I should use the baguette Lego too and get a kitchen theme going…
Sweet little plate and THAT Pricilla made me laugh! Those socks are really going places or should I say you are going to town on the socks haha
Celia, I couldn’t help but smile how you “spiced up” IMK with your comment about Priscilla. Such a sense of humor… love it, and you! (Your chorizo, too.) Wishing we could “taste test” your cooking…
your sock creatures are so cute celia. and what about that lego man? so useful too. That plate of Kavey’s is a beauty. how clever she is! if that’s one of her first imagine what’s to come. beautiful priscilla. no more to be said …
I am going to try using my kimchi in a stew. Thanks for that! And I have a plan to make fresh chorizos soon. Love the lego holder :)
Indeed a wonderful use for old Legos! All your new items are lovely. I always enjoy IMK posts. Mine is here:

Love your Lego charger fellow and that Tuscan soup looks delicious.
Loving the sound of the Korean pork & kimchi stew Celia, which Adam Liaw cookbook is that from? Priscilla is looking amazing, as always. And that bag of chorizo – awesome!! Hope you’re well, see you soon x

Wow! Kavey is off to a fantastic start with her pottery making, isn’t she! I also like what you’ve done with the Legos, you clever girl. Those delicious dishes have me hungry all over again.
that ribollita looks deeeelicious!!
Love you little elephant dish! Yum, I wish I had a big bag of those chorizo in my fridge right now! I can almost smell them. Ha ha, Priscilla makes me smile – she is gorgeous!
Your cleavage picture and comment gave me a giggle. Always wonderful things in your kitchen Celia.
What a really cute and pretty elephant plate, a lovely gift to receive. Celia, you always know how to make a cleavage look really good :)
