In my kitchen…
…we made sourdough pancakes for breakfast. These were served with the Spice Girl’s homemade bacon (yes, she’s completely bonkers, and I adore her) and topped with a drizzle of organic maple syrup.
In my kitchen…
…sits a box of new season Royal Gala apples. They’re sweet, crunchy and unblemished.
In my kitchen…
…there is a large slab of sourdough focaccia, baked for next week’s school lunches. It’s made with cousin Andrew’s olive oil, organic bread flour and Maldon salt.
In my kitchen…
…are these little chocolates, made with tempered Belgian chocolate.
Big Boy plays the french horn, Small Man plays the trumpet. When I saw this chocolate mould, I couldn’t resist. And since Big Boy is now playing first horn in the orchestra, I’m sending in choccies for the whole section. Small Man ate all the trumpets by himself.
In my kitchen…
…there were 38 brownie cupcakes, topped with Callebaut milk chocolate ganache. There are now 23. Each one is bite-sized, so they don’t last very long around here!
Tell me, what are you making in your kitchen this weekend?
It must smell heavenly in your kitchen! :P
OMW Celia. What a spread. Good thing I’m so so far away from you. Wow
I want to be in your kitchen. Right now. Please save some bacon, cupcakes and focaccia for me. I won’t fight with Big Boy and Small Man for the chocs ;)
Lorraine, it does! But there’s lots of washing up too… ;-)
Oz, girlfriend, if you were any closer, we’d both be beached.
Wink, no probs on the cupcakes and focaccia, but you’ll need to armwrestle Spice Girl’s kids to get any of that bacon… :)
Our best friends are coming over for dinner tonight so I am making crackers with romano. olive tapenade for starters. For dinner we’ll have grilled bratwurst, pasta, a nice salad with a mustard vinaigrette and a roasted mushroom artichoke side dish.
For dessert I’m going to try your lemon curd recipe and make a lemon raspberry tart.
I raise my whisk to you!
Marilyn
Home. Made. Bacon. I’m speechless, and considering adding this to my Food Bucket List. But first I have to get on with tempering chocolate, as those beautiful ones pictured above reminded me. In the meantime, I’ve got another batch of yogurt in the closet–made following your suggestions this time!
I want to visit your house right now! Lovely blog you have as well.
Anh, thank you! Your blog looks wonderful…
Nancy, isn’t the Spice Girl just the maddest person? Love her to bits. Hope the yoghurt works well, and you’re having a joyous weekend.. :)
Marilyn, you know if you lived closer I’d be inviting myself over right now – they’re all the flavours I looove.. :)
Well, I’ve just finished the last of the roast lamb for lunch in a yummy sandwich – the lamb was cooked in my new Romertorpf during the week.
I also made your dulce de leche brownies for a girls gathering yesterday and I have to tell you the compliments were coming thick and fast . Thank you!
Sharron, you’ve made my day! Thank you for all that wonderful feedback! And I’m so glad the Romertopf lamb worked out well!
Celia! You are welcome any time!
The crackers turned out better than good. :-) I did heart shaped plain ones, round salty and square pepper flavored…. So delish! I also tested a few straw shaped. Nom nom nom!
Thanks, Marilyn! Heart shaped crackers, of course you did… :)
what a fantastic list! everything looks amazing!!! you’re giving me such a complex, celia! all i’ve managed to do this weekend is a pot of stuffed cabbage, a soup over a smoked turkey leg, some pizza and a coconut flan. and then you come along with homemade bacon and molded chocolates! what of the apples?
Ha! Dana, I could say the same thing about all those amazing photos on your gorgeous blog! It’s beyond me how you manage all the stuff you do with a toddler under foot! :)
AND… I didn’t make the bacon, my friend the Spice Girl did.
The apples have been sorted and stashed in the fridge for two weeks of school morning teas, and the ones which were left over have been turned into an apple pie. Small Man must have an apple pie whenever there is a box of apples in the house.. :)
Wowwie, must get my hands on that musical chocolate mould. What I would give to come home to fresh baked focaccia *sigh* You’re a kitchen goddess!
In my kitchen this week were peanut butter & chocolate chip cupcakes which I burned :( Then I made rosewater and pistachio cupcakes with rosewater buttercream frosting. That was MUCH better :)
Oh Wow Celia, what amazing delights. The sourdough foccacia looks tremendous….!
This morning in my kitchen I began a wholemeal spelt sourdough and a carrot, walnut and currant sourdough which were later baked up as part of the christening of my friend’s backyard clay oven, using a homemade peel and your fabulous gloves for inspiration and protection! We also enjoyed crispy pizza with a tomato passata from their own tomatoes and then with the oven still holding heat we bluffed our way into a scone batter to enjoy with jam made from their own fruit trees (apricot and plum). So not much in my kitchen, but lots of heart, hands and sharing, which so often inspires from your entries.

I cooked a paella for my tribe and a friend this evening. It was cooked on my new paella burner on the barbie (inspired by Celia’s trip to Chef’s Warehouse a few weeks back) with pork belly, free range chicken and chorizo.
Oh, and a fine albarino (that I didn’t do anything with but open).

Also, didn’t have enough watermelon for watermelon and chocolate chips (for the seeds of course) ice cream. I have a Christmas recipe from my daughter I need to make – maybe next weekend

Yummy as always in your cucina!
Making a speedy lemon almond bundt tin, smoked salmon sarnies with home made bread – tea for B’s mum and folks as it’s Mother’s Day here! Got to dash xxx
Emma, thank you! I’m sure rosewater and pistachio cupcakes were delicious, but I’ll bet they looked even better than they tasted! :)
Craig, what a wonderful weekend you’ve had, thank you for sharing it with us! All those amazing homemade treats! It’s nice to have friends to share the good times with…
Pete, paella – if I’d been home, I’d have knocked on your door! Pork belly, chicken and chorizo! Wow! By the way, I need a source for good Spanish chorizo – do you have one? I want to try making migas again…
Jo, hope you’re having a lovely day – lemon bundt sounds delish!
Celia xx
In my kitchen … is a mess waiting to be cleaned as I type:-(
An empty flask of hot chocolate from our trip to the beach (to throw stones not to swim!), pots from caramelizing hazelnuts then coating them chocolate, beef stirfry for dinner which is made so good because my Mum saves the best sirloin for us (well actually for HoneyB so she might eat some!).
One of these days I am going to make bread. Your focaccia looks so good. But really, how do you do it? Nigella has nothing on you!
Hehe…you can talk. :) Looking forward to seeing the chocolate coated caramelized hazelnuts on your blog soon.. :D
In my kitchen there are 6 of 36 sourdough hot cross buns I made this morning. Took some into the gym and they all freaked out about ‘carbs’…and most managed to resist despite the aroma from the just baked buns! what a laugh!. There is also a very “interesting” looking loaf of bread I made for your competition – sending photos soon. Two big bowls of oven roasted tomatoes waiting to be put through the food mouli to make passata (thanks to your influence). And most exciting of all (and most unusual)….a clean benchtop!
Oh I love those muscial chocolates too! Does the mold have violins, saxophones and clarinets too? My kids would love that….
Spice Girl, the bacon was sublime…thank you! But for goodness sake, can you please not call the bake-off a competition – there is no prize!!! Look forward to seeing the loaves though, thanks for baking them! :)
Our tomatoes are all done – you’ll be happy, they’re particularly delicious this time.
And on the moulds – check out the Candyland Crafts site, they had violins and saxs but I haven’t found a clarinet yet. You might want to check to see what’s available locally – I started buying from Candyland years ago, and there’s a lot more available locally now, without the heavy freight costs! In terms of the rectangular mint shapes, I think there’s a mould with a violin on it too, but not sax.
bite sized cupcakes r the best!
