Revisit: Polarfleece Sacks

June 30, 2010 by Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial

One more quick revisit, in case anyone else is as cold as I am at the moment!

It is freezing in Sydney – coldest June day in 60 years, with more frosty weather to come. Our outdoor thermometer registered 2.8°C overnight – very chilly for our temperate city!

As a result, I’ve been sewing polarfleece sacks, using this pattern that I wrote last year.  If you have even basic sewing skills, they’re very simple to put together.  I’m sitting in one right now as I type…

Hi Celia – we’ve been having a few days of very hot weather here in the southern half of the UK, so you know your sunshine has gone to a good cause! LOL

Hehe…yes, I know. I’ve been looking at all the photos on Joanna’s blog to keep myself warm.. :)

I still think that those Aussie sheepskin slippers (not Uggs) are the business, but have always fancied one of your polarblanket sit ins. Alternatively wrap a small dog over your feet. Hope it warms up soon xx

I don’t think many Northern hemisphere people realise that Sydney houses rarely have central heating!

And we are baking over here.

And the really bad news is that it’s warmer than that here in Wellington New Zealand :)

Jo, the dog idea sounds nice.. :) But I keep telling you, if it’s made of sheepskin and it goes on your feet, over here it’s called an Ugg. Aussies, back me up here.. ;-)

Anna, that is interesting – do most people in the North have central heating? Very few people I know have that here.

Amanda, that is a scary thought! We’re colder than Windy Wellington! Actually, it’s warmer here than further inland – my friend the Spice Girl just posted – it was 0.5C when she headed out this morning! Most unusual for Sydney…

Yup – everyone has central heating!!

We have central heating and most of the newer homes have central air conditioning, as well. When it gets cold , it gets very, very cold and here in Ohio, when it gets hot it gets humid!

Oh I must add this to my to do list for later in the year. I am never without my fleecie. I’ve one for summer and winter. But I did not think to buy the material rather than a finished blanket. This way I can color coordinate too!
And the other thing about winter … perfect for hot chocolate. Hope you are keeping some of your mix handy :-)

Haha Celia I am actually right now sitting with a royalblue polarfleece blanket wrapped around my shoulders! So I feel the polarfleece love! :D

    What a cool idea!! Yeah!!

I really can’t sew that much but my mother in law can do it very well!

Heidi, Anna, I guess you guys get more extreme weather than we do! Mostly it’s quite mild in Sydney – I really shouldn’t complain.. :)

Gillian, I’m sure you could find pink pf with butterflies for HoneyB.. :) Hot chocolate mix on standby!

Lorraine, hasn’t it been cold? I haven’t taken my sack off in two days.. :)

Sophie, it’s very easy! I hope your m-i-l makes you one, since you get much colder in Brussels than we do! :)
